It's a beautiful Mopar Accessorized 2012 Jeep. Includes Mopar rock rails, Kicker dash 6.5-inch two-way speakers, Mopar all-weather mats and more.
Mercury's ride. Sometimes, I think her dad loves it more than the planetarium.
Mercury was showing us it, her face pale. "All terrain. It's the perfect thing to get around. Dad's in the library, and I have the keys. Only thing is, we'll have to drive it."
It looks like we'll be needing it. The entire ground as far as can be seen was torn up and bumpy. No way were we driving bikes over that stuff. And, with our amazing luck, it looked like it was about to rain.
Radar shook his head. "We should get some adults. This looks too dangerous. Plus, none of us have a driver's license." "Radar," Thomas said, looking at him.
"Do you really think any adult would go with our crazy plan? Or believe that we have a spellbook? And are undoing a century old curse?"
"Good point."
I bit my lip, and looked at Mercury. Mercury's dad loved that jeep, and got mad when Mercury just touched it. It was really expensive, and it was already crazy to even think about driving it. I'm surprised that Mercury volunteered the idea. But as I said before: What choice do we have?
I took Mercury's hand, and squeezed it reassuringly. She smiled at me, and nodded. She would go through with it. I nodded back firmly.
Mercury took a deep breath. "So, who's going to drive it?" I looked at her, perplexed. Mercury saw my look. "Oh, no Cricket. I can't do it. I'm already scared. I'll probably mess up. What about you driving it?" I shook my head quickly. Radar looked shocked, and Thomas set his jaw.
"I'll do-" "No." Radar stood taller. I wasn't the only one surprised. Both Mercury and Thomas' mouths dropped open.
"I volunteer as tribute." Mercury groaned.
"Radar, this isn't the time for Hunger Games references."
"I'm serious! I'm going to drive this jeep, even if it kills me! Well, not literally. You get the point! Now gimme the keys, Mercury, and let's do this! Also, can you help me? I don't know how to drive."
--------------------------------------------
We all were in the car, after getting ready and setting up seat arrangements. Radar, of course, was in the driver's seat, Mercury had shotgun, and Thomas sat in the back with me. We all couldn't change out of our pajamas, but we all got coats from Mercury. I was glad the jeep had a top, because it was raining hard now. I touched my backpack strap. I felt the weight of the book in there.
Radar slipped the keys into the ignition. He looked at Mercury. "What now?" "Put it in drive." Radar shifted the gear, and clutched the steering wheel in terror.
Mercury looked a little scared herself, and she said calmly, "Now press the gas pedal." I tightened my seatbelt. I suddenly felt my head hit the back of the seat, and we were going very fast. I screamed, thinking I was going to die.
And then the jeep stopped so abruptly I shot forward. I was panting, and looked up. Radar's hands were white, and still clutching the steering wheel. Thomas was holding my hand, checking if I was okay. Mercury was breathing hard too. "Radar...gently. Press the gas pedal gently."
"O-oh." Radar swallowed. "Sorry."
After that, we started going a bit smoother. Sure, it was pretty slow, but hey, at least we weren't going ninety miles per hour.
Thomas directed Radar with a map, and I realized I wasn't needed for the moment. So, I looked outside to watch the scenery.
I wish I hadn't.
Everything seemed to be all a mess. It was raining so hard you could barely see outside. I looked away. All I wanted was to be able to make everything right.
And Farlo was making it awful hard.
For some reason, the chaos outside made me think of Heather. And I had no idea why.
We were moving about twenty miles per hour. Mercury seemed a little tired, and Thomas had fallen asleep. I was suddenly glad we had left a note for our parents. We were doing pretty deep stuff.
Bam! Something jolted me out of my thoughts. Radar was screaming and then the car slammed into something. Thomas and Mercury and I were panicking. "Radar!" Thomas yelled. "What happened?" Radar, looking terrified, only pointed at Mercury's window. It was cracked, spider like designs all over the window.
"Radar?" "G-guys, I think someone ran into the window."
"Oh my god!" We all quickly opened the doors. I felt a sense of dread as I ran out. The jeep was smoking. It had run into a tree on the side of the road. And there was a shape lying in the middle.
"Oh my god Radar! This is why you can't have nice things!" Mercury said, flabbergasted. We ran to the shape in the road. Oh my god, I hope Radar didn't kill him or her.
We came up to it, and everybody breathed in relief. It was only a raccoon. "Geez." Thomas poked it with a stick. "Why would a raccoon just jump at a moving vehicle like that?" Radar sucked in a breath through his teeth. "This is why a thirteen year old shouldn't drive." "Guys."
Mercury had her face in her hands.
"The jeep's all dented, and the engine's all messed up. What're we gonna do?"

Ahh, Radar! Learn how to drive! Haha, no. Please don't. XD
