chapter twenty-four

the drive was long for iwaizumi, especially considering this would be the longest he's driven by himself. usually, most people on a long road trip call someone in hopes to make the trip feel shorter than it is. unfortunately for iwaizumi, his friends consisted of oikawa tooru, hanamaki takahiro and matsukawa issei.

"iwa~ why'd you leave so early."

"my bed felt so empty without you, iwa-chan~"

"hah? my company wasn't enough, makki?"

if he could, iwaizumi would run off the cliff from the conversation they were having.

"i haven't even left miyagi and you're not convincing me to comeback." iwaizumi groans, "and it's not my fault you guys wanted to sleepover at shittykawa's and stayed up til three doing nonsense. and i left at eight. it's not even that early, you dumbasses."

"oh? if you're not coming back, then how would you see y/n-nee?!"

the spikey hair boy groans, running his hands through his hair, blushing slightly at the mention and their teasing. during the past day, he's been bombarded with questions about his last minute trip. despite having a, now ex-girlfriend, iwaizumi hajime can be extremely dense. he honestly doesn't know the answer to their questions, instead opting to berate the three.

this time, he just stays silent, allowing the three to entertain themselves on the phone call. about halfway to saitama, he makes a stop for gas in tochigi and texts y/n.

iwaizumi chuckled, liking the message before finishing his trip to saitama. 'only an hour and a half left.' he thought to himself, grateful to finally see y/n and get off the phone call with his friends.

though he was more excited about the former.

y/n stood to the side with miyanoshita eri, the manager for ubugawa high and the managers for fukurodani, shirofuku yukie and suzumeda kaori. they chuckle to themselves at how bokuto's childish antics immediately changed after his insane line shot between tsukishima and kageyama, even right between asahi and nishinoya. his point lead to their victory against karasuno, followed by his teammates hyping him up. yukie and kaori tease bokuto.

"i've never seen people be so dedicated to diving drills..." a familiar voice comes from behind y/n.

everyone could tell that the girl physically perked up at the sight of her friend, "haji-kun!"
