"was the shirtless view that good?" y/n should've known better seeing the devious smirk coming from sugawara koushi.

as he sat down, he motioned for the girl to come over, acting as if he had a secret to tell her. instead, he decided to tease her about it after hearing about their interaction from kiyoko.

flustered, she gave her best friend a joking glare before making up an excuse and getting them some sweets, the two smirking at her reaction.

after seijoh's underclassman left, the third years feel the awkwardness settle, making the cafe quiet. outside the sound of them eating, the boys decided to not say a word.

as the clock hits eight thirty, and y/n goes to swap the sign from open to close, the four seijoh players go to put their dishes in the bin. matsukawa grabs the bin, following hanamaki to the dishwashing sink while oikawa grabs a sanitizer rag to wipe down the tables— making sure to avoid eye contact and steering clear from the karasuno players. iwaizumi grabs a broom and starts sweeping whatever crumbs were left.

y/n sighs, shaking her head but smiles at their help. though she doesn't even need it, seeing as she has already finished wrapping up, cleaning and prepped for the next day. she goes and sits next to sugawara and kiyoko, noticing that the four were finishing up on their treat and drink.

"i've told them a million times that they don't need to help me, but they do it anyways." she mumbles, her chin resting on her palm while she puts her elbow on the table.

daichi lets out a chuckle, "it's definitely a surprise to see." he mumbled, still aware of the awkward air.

sugawara looks over at iwaizumi, noticing how his ears turn red whenever he would look over at their friend. he smirks, elbowing y/n and in a not very discreet manner shifts his eyes to seijoh's ace. "good at volleyball, drops everything for you and will clean for you?"

"husband material~" kiyoko includes, asahi and daichi snickering.

"stop it, you two!" she buries her face into her palms, embarrassed by their teasing and seeing the other two join in. as if they were in sync, the four seijoh players wrap up on their tasks at the same time, grabbing their backpacks and awkwardly standing close to the door.

y/n jumps up, and goes to them, "you guys really didn't have to clean, but i really appreciate it." she smiles brightly, going to give hanamaki a hug, then going to matsukawa.

as if they were puppies wagging their tails, they immediately light up, ignoring the previous awkward atmosphere.

"always, y/n-chan~" hanamaki coos, as matsukawa exaggerates on his hug, rocking side to side.

"y/n-nee, don't overwork yourself~ we'll see you tomorrow." oikawa squeezes tightly, "who else would make me milk bread."

y/n just laughs, joking about how he only wants her for her bread. the three walk out the door leaving iwaizumi, catching the girl off guard. although he would never do an irish good bye, he is usually one to leave first after saying good bye.

"thank you, y/n-chan. for this weekend and for everything." he smiles, wrapping his arms around her shoulders.

she freezes, surprised at his gesture but wraps her arms around him soon after. "of course, hajime-kun. it was enjoyable because you were with me." she pulls away, smiling brightly.

iwaizumi's face heats up, covering his mouth with his hand, "ah- thank you, uh, you as well. have a good night and get some rest."

as he leaves, sugawara was the first to run up to her, teasing her about the cute hug and their embarrassed faces. kiyoko follows behind, a devious smirk on her face. asahi assures her that she looked fine and that they were really cute. daichi agrees, chuckling at their awkwardness as he throws away all their trash, the cafe now finished with all their tasks.

on the other side of the glass door, now black from the curtains and metal safety bars, the boys drag iwaizumi away, cheering and shoving him around.

"dude, dude, dude," hanamaki repeats, pushing him towards matsukawa who pats his shoulder, "you looked so awkward!"

"it was enjoyable because you were with me." matsukawa cackles, iwaizumi cursing his weirdly good ability of lip reading.

oikawa grabs his shoulders, jumping up and down, "awe what cute weirdo!" he laughs.

at this, iwaizumi grabs his wrist and threatens him, but gets drowned out by their teasing.

despite the two being in extremely embarrassing positions, getting questioned by their friends, they were content because they wished they could've hugged a little longer.

"l/n-san?" his quiet nature off the court caught y/n off guard when kageyama calls out to her.

"what's up kageyama-kun?" she wonders.

the karasuno team met up at the barbecue and ramen shop that y/n introduced aoba johsai to. since they came here after their match against them, they all enjoyed it and wanted to come back while they were still on break.

they were all in one big table, everyone except the coach and mister takeda were present, since they wanted to rest after such a long trip.

"are you dating iwaizumi-san?" the question caught everyone off guard, especially knowing the person kageyama is.

hinata, tanaka and tsukishima immediately go to tease him, exaggerating their surprise that kageyama cared about other people and commoners' drama.

ennoshita reprimands them, trying to remind everyone that kageyama isn't a robot.

the third years laughs at the question, especially after experiencing their awkward hug just moments earlier. "yeah, y/n-chan, are you?" sugawara adds fuel to the fire.

"wha- no- suga shut up- where'd you hear that from?!" y/n felt even more embarrassed, especially considering she'd gotten close with the whole team over the short time and she was put on the spot in front of them.

mid argument with hinata, as if their little physical banter was on pause, he looks over at her and tilts his head, "is that not why he came to tokyo? and i heard he and uragiri broke up so..." he trails off as if it explained everything.

again, tanaka and now nishinoya cry, mumbling about how much he's grown as a human while the other first years were surprised that he actually did pay attention to commoners' drama. the rest of the second and third years cackle at his words.

she tries to defend herself again, but every time felt as if she dug herself in a deeper hole.

"kuroo invited him and was too polite to say no." "iwaizumi-san is very outspoken about his boundaries."

"he wanted to go to tokyo for break." "iwaizumi-san hates dense cities like tokyo."

"he's still stuck on uragiri-san, they have been dating since they were first years." "at kiitagawa daiichi, i've heard iwaizumi-san valued their friendship over anything else, so i don't think romance is what kept him."

"maybe he changed his mind?" "they've been wanting to break up since last year."

y/n felt defeated, every excuse she had was countered. although she's not holding any grudges against kageyama, also knowing how socially awkward he is after middle school, she wished he would stop talking.

ennoshita, feeling bad, puts a hand on kageyama's shoulder, "they're not in a relationship and it can sound intrusive when asking."

the setter's eyes widened, not realizing that. he bows his head towards y/n, "i'm sorry, i didn't mean for it to come off as rude."

y/n just waves it off, her face still feeling hot, "i understand iwaizumi-san's someone you respect, so you were just looking out."

kageyama nods, happy that she understood. tanaka and nishinoya take this time to turn the conversation towards kiyoko, asking if she will marry them. not date, but rather marry. immediately, she turns them down, and they gush about how she looks good rejecting them.

sugawara smirks, a knowing look on his face, "even kageyama-kun noticed~"

"shut up, koushi." she mumbles shoving a dumpling in his mouth.
