"gasp— guys— why're you talking to the traitor?!" oikawa gasped, slinging his arms around his fellow third year teammates, playfully glaring at his sister-figure.
"did you really say 'gasp', tooru-nii?" y/n deadpans, sighing, "i suppose you don't want milk bread then..."
oikawa immediately shoves the two away, matsukawa stumbling in the middle of the hallway as hanamaki gets pushed into the lockers. he them gives y/n a great big hug, squealing about how cute and hardworking she is. as he gets pushed away from the hug, matsukawa and hanamki immediately go to smack his back as hard as they could, annoyed from getting shoved.
"besides, i just tagged along with them, it wasn't anything else." y/n defended, though she knew the setter was just joking. she grabs three bags from her locker, giving each of them their own bag that has their names on it. matsukawa having a bento of his cheese-filled burger steak while oikawa and hanamaki have milk bread and creme puff pastries.
"thank you, y/n-chan~" they cheer.
noticing that one of the four stooges was missing, y/n tilted her head to the side, "where's hajime-kun?"
hanamaki smacks oikawa once more after he lets out a mischievous giggle. matsukawa rolls his eyes, "he's talking to the coach about something, since the tournament's next week." y/n hummed, the four walking to class.
much like how tooru's popularity with the female students, y/n is at a similar status with athletes. thanks to the volleyball club members promoting the bakery through word of mouth and her presentation on athletic training— not to mention her positive attitude— she often gets approached by other clubs. occasionally she would help their managers or classmates, though she still spends most of her time with the volleyball club.
"thank you so much, y/n-san! we'll see you after practice!" the girls' and boys' soccer captain bow, waving their hands and heading to their respective class.
"hai, see you, tsumugi-san, waguri-san!" she calls out.
"they're really cute together. surprised waguri-san likes him." matsukawa mentions, looking at the two. although they weren't friends for as long oikawa and iwaizumi have been, matsukawa, hanamaki, oikawa and iwaizumi still shared mostly the same classmates in middle school and would often tell y/n some random information and drama they remember.
for instance, the blossoming rivalry between the two soccer captains.
"you're just mad she rejected you in grade eight." wrong, it was grade seven.
"and that you're still single even though you're almost eighteen!" it's august, so he still had several months before he turns eighteen.
"we're really playing that game?" matsukawa scowled, grabbing the back of oikawa and hanamaki's shirts, "y/n-chan, in grade six, oikawa made up a girlfriend and everyone thought that it was iwaizumi because he literally described him. in grade seven, hanamaki was the flower boy to takeru's mom's wedding."
y/n laughed at the new found information, the two held squirm, convincing the girl that he was just spouting nonsense. though matsukawa continues to list off embarrassing moments for the two. eventually, the three end up wrestling in the middle of the hallway.
"you guys really are hopeless." their fifth member show up behind y/n, annoyed at their antics this early in the morning.
"iwa-chan!" they jump, straightening up and mocking a fake salute.
an irk mark formed on his forehead, "now you wanna listen?!"
"hajime-kun, were you able to get whatever you needed from the coach?" y/n asked, smiling brightly at the boy.
