Chapter 8

•Riker•
Vanessa and I decided to take a walk through the park. We're walking hand in hand, laughing at the little chubby babies waddling around.

"Oh V, let's go get some ice cream!" I suggested and she nodded.

We walk across the street to be ice cream shop called 'Benny's.

"Hi welcome to Benny's! What can I get you guys?" The server asked while smiling.

"I'll have...... The raspberry twist." Vanessa said.

"And I'll take the mint chocolate chip." I said.

"$5.75" The server smiled. I see Vanessa taking out her wallet but I stopped her.

"What do you think your doing?" I asked Vanessa while smirking.

"Umm.. Paying?" She said like it was a question. "Nope." I said while handing the server a 10$ bill. "Riker! You always pay!" She exclaimed and I smiled. "It's what good boyfriends do." I said while chuckling.

We got our ice cream and sat down at a table outside when I see someone familiar.

"Vanessa?"

"What?"

"Does that girl look familiar?" I asked while pointing to the girl with another boy. I turn back to Vanessa and she stands up and walks over to the couple.

"Andrew!?" Vanessa shouts at a boy. THATS LAURA'S EX BOYFRIEND!! The one who cheated on her!!

The couple turns around startled. "COURTNEY!?" I exclaim while dropping my jaw.

"What are you doing with Andrew, Courtney? Your dating my brother!" I exclaimed and she smirked.

"Go talk to Ross. I'm sure he'll understand." She said while smirking.

"Andrew? What the hell is wrong with you?!" Vanessa says while her face is turning red in anger.

"Hey I'm trying to find the right girl. Laura and Jessica weren't in my league. Now I found Courtney. I think she's a keeper." He says while pecking Courtney's cheek. Okay EW!

"Okay I'll tell you something man whore-" But Vanessa was interrupted by Andrew speaking. "Look, Laura needs to get a life. I was never really into her. She's too ugly for me. I was just with her because I was desperate. Laura needs to take a snap into reality." Andrew spit.

Vanessa was about to slaughter him but I grabbed her arm and dragged her away.

"HEY! Riker I have to kill him!!" Vanessa says while trying to get out of my grip. "No. We don't need that kind of trouble."

•Ross•
This week has been pretty good. Laura and I have been hanging almost everyday for the past week.

I've seen her more this week than I've seen Courtney in a month!

"Laura. Laura. Laura. Laura. Laura." I say while continuously poking her.

"WHAT?!" She shouts while gigging. "I just wanted your attention." I say while pretending to be sad.

"Well hold on. I'm busy." She says turning her attention back to my phone.

'Yeah busy on social media' I think to myself. I said 'my phone' because she can't check her social media on her so called phone.

Then after 5 minutes, her attention is totally focused on the phone. I pick her up and hold her over my shoulder, causing her to shriek and drop the phone.

"ROSS!!" She shouts while laughing.

"What?" I ask pretending to act innocent. "I was busy!" She pouts.

"I have found a new way to get your attention." I said while smirking and setting her back on the couch.

"Yeah by annoying me." I shake my head and chuckle. "You have Twitter and Instagram?" I ask and she nods. "Yeah why?"

I take my phone back and see she's on her Instagram. I type my name into the search box and I press follow when my account loads.

"There, your following me on Instagram. I'll follow back when I can have my phone back." She nods. "I'm finished with it. So you have a Twitter?" She asked and I nod. "Yeah. If you follow me, I'll follow back." I smile and she smiles back.

"I'll follow you when I get home. I have a computer in my room so." I shrug.

"You better follow me!" She exclaimed

"I will, I promise." I say.

•Laura•
I am not verified on Twitter or Instagram. I've been posting videos of me singing songs I wrote and I get a lot a of likes, favorites, and retweets. I love seeing the positive comments. But what comes with these videos are negative comments.

I was interrupted by the front door slamming open.

"ROSS!!" Riker screamed and Ross ran to the front door.

"WHAT?!" He shouted back to Riker.

"Umm..." Riker paused. Vanessa nudged him and have him a 'tell him' look.

"Fine. Ross, I saw Courtney with another guy." Riker blurted out and sighed in relief. I turned to Ross and he sighed.

"Look I don't care anymore. I broke up with her." Ross said.

"Why? When?" Riker asked.

"She hated the fact I was putting my career before her. I finally had enough and broke up with her last week." Ross shrugged.

"Ohh. Well I'm sorry. But in my opinion, you made the right choice." Riker smiled and Ross smiled back.

"So, who is she out with? Do you know the guy?" Ross asked, breaking the silence.

Riker and Vanessa turned to each other and Vanessa bit her lip nervously.

"Ness, what's wrong? You only bite your lip when you get nervous." I said and Vanessa sighed.

"Courtney is going out with Laura's ex boyfriend, Andrew." Vanessa said. And all eyes were on me.

My. Heart. Dropped. Tears brim into my eyes and I sink down to the floor.

"What did he say, did he talk to you?" I managed to say.

"Laura, I don't wanna go that far." Vanessa said kneeling in front of me.

"I need to know what he said!" I exclaimed and Vanessa nodded slowly.

"He-he said he never liked you. You were too ugly for him and he only dated you because he was desperate. He also told you to get-"
She paused and took a deep breath.
"-To get a snap into reality." Vanessa finished.

I had tears brimming in my eyes. Someone I thought who actually cared about me, never did.

Ross plops down next to me and pulls me into his lap and hugs me tightly. I couldn't help but cry into his chest.

"It's going to be okay." Ross cooed. "I'm right here for you Laur." Ross said while stroking my hair.
