'This Shit Is Weird: The Inquisitor Trevelyan Story' The dwarf began to write on a sheet of paper before him
"It started normal enough, a handsome man and an even handsom-er dwarf caught in a life or death situation, A tear in the sky" The dwarf sighed and shook his head "No, No, Much to melodramatic." He sighed softly to himself.
It had been a good six months since he finally did leave Skyhold. It was of course hard to leave after how much they had gone through, but Kirkwall was his home, and he simply had to return. To his surprise Kirkwall seemed quite calm, much of the past year's events had simply not made it out so far. Little a heroes welcome was left for him. So there he sat at his desk with the paper before him, today simply wasn't the day to chronicle what had happened all those months ago. What it was perhaps time for was to check on The Inquisition, a simple letter would do.
'Inquisitor, hope things are more exciting there then they are here. Still no activity, no enemies, not even a drunken brawl. This still is my home though, and it's been far too short for me to return. In a few days I am going to make an expedition into the deep roads however, it shall be my first time down since I returned. Certainly can tear up a shit storm down there, so maybe I'll get lucky and do just that. Give my regards, Varric' He sealed the letter and sent it back to Skyhold, something which was now more a memory then it was an actual place. With a sigh, he stood, beginning to pack for his expedition.
Three Days Later
Varric was certainly not a poor dwarf, so with some of his money he had hired a relatively small group of explorers to help accompany him. He looked between the few dwarves that were with him, the 6 of them and their cart slowly making their way into the deep roads. It had already been a few hours and it had been quite remarkably unremarkable. They had found practically no treasures of any sorts, no beasts, it was simply boring. Varric let out a sigh
"Let's set everything out here, we can camp for the evening, day. And tomorrow we'll make better speed." Varric nodded and gained some nods of approval from his companions. They laid out their bedrolls, cooked over the fire, and not before long they were sound asleep. Only one staying awake to keep guard. The darkness set upon the small camp as only the embers of fire remained.
"G-Ghaaaaa!! Get it off! P-Please! AH!" There was a horrific shriek and all jolted awake. The explorers quickly lit any torch they could, the 5 looking between each other.
"W-Where's O-Orad?" One of the men asked "H-He was supposed to watch, w-was that him?" They all looked between each other
"Listen, he probably just did that so he could run off with what he could, happens all the t--" Varric was quickly shut up however, as all 5 torches went dark simultaneously.
"Maker help me! W-What's on my le---AH!" Another shriek, the torches went back up, only 4.
"Alright! Let's get the hell out of here!" Varric yelled out and the 3 were quick to follow orders. The 4 men bolted fast as they could the direction they had come. A few minutes, another shriek, and another. Only two remained as they ran, light was growing closer, natural light.
"W-We've made it! I can't beli--No!" The final explorer cried out as he was pulled back into the darkness. Varric looked back one last time and there was still nothing. Suddenly a deep and low laugh called out, immense power behind it.
"Varric! You have escaped, go, tell your Inquisition. I can not be defeated, soon I shall leave this place, and the world will be mine." The voice boomed, and before long Varric was in the light of the outside world. Sputtering and gasping, it was decided Varric would pay the inquisition a visit much sooner then expected.
