Little Things in a Forbidden Love

I. PHONE CALL

RICHARD GOMEZ.

I held my phone and just stared at her number for a couple of minutes. Though how much I wanted to call her, I was a bit hesitant because I knew she was busy. I knew she was tired and I didn't want to disturb her.

"...But no, maybe I can do something to make her feel better," I convinced myself. And so I did.

"Hello, Gomz?" a sweet voice came from the other line. It was Dawn, sounding a bit tired.

"Hi, Dawn," I greeted her. "I heard you're still at the Bb.Pilipinas rehearsals. Are you okay?"

She sighed for a moment and answered, "Not very well but I'll be fine tomorrow. Uhm, what made you call me anyway?"

The way she sounded suddenly sent shivers down my spine. It took me about six seconds before I got back to my senses. Was it awkward? I guess, so I tried to make up by talking a little jollier.

"Oh, I called to tell you something! I'll be there tomorrow night," I revealed and wished she could see the smile on my face.

"W-w-what? Here? Don't you need to be th..."

"Ssshhh," I interrupted Dawn. "It's just one day and besides I already booked my ticket," I added.

"Really? Oh well, why am I even surprised? It's not as if you can say no to  seeing these beautiful ladies," she giggled.

Then I knew we were both enjoying the conversation. Both of us were laughing. Our joy outweighed whatever stress we had at the moment. "Beautiful lady," I corrected. "Singular, Dawn and that lady is you," my heart skipped a bit as those words bounced off my tongue.

"Hahahahaha!" Okay fine. So see you tomorrow?" she asked.

"Of course," I promised. "Do you have to go now?"

There was a moment of silence between us and I heard Dawn sigh once again. "Uhm, I am sorry, Gomz. But I am really tired. I'll hang up now, okay?"

"Okay bye. See you," I said. Then Dawn ended the call. Of course I still wanted to talk to her, but I couldn't be too selfish to keep her on the line in that situation. I was going to see her very soon anyway.

Moments after, I fell asleep with my phone, still stuck at Dawn's name and number,  on my chest.
