The fight was too close. Richard, however, ended up losing again. During the canvassing, I was not sure about what I felt. A part of me hoped that Richard would eventually win and a part of me hoped he would not. I wanted him to win because it would make him very happy. On the other hand, I did not want him to win because I got scared he would be too busy to see me. Selfish? I guess so, but that's love when it gets so deep.

"Dawn, talo na nga si Richard," Vivian informed me as she walked into my room.

"Oo nga raw," I responded flatly as I stood near the window.

She took some steps forward and asked, "Nakausap mo na ba siya?"

I sighed and told her the truth. "No. Hindi niya  sinasagot ang mga text messages at tawag ko. Kagabi ko pa siya kinakamusta kaso I have never heard anything from him."

"Baka busy pa rin siya hanggang ngayon. Waiting for the results you know," she said while tapping my back. "Sige na, Dawn. Matulog ka na. Bukas na balik nating Manila diba? Good night."

When Vivian left, I immediately went to my bed. As I continued thinking of Richard, my eyebrows drew together and I bit my lip out of worry. I knew he was upset. I knew he was not okay. I was helpless, however, because he responded to not a single one of my messages and calls. But that did not stop me. At eight o'clock in the evening, I got my phone and dialled his number for the nth time.

RICHARD GOMEZ.

I poured a drink again. It was my fourth glass of wine and I still could not forget how painful the events were. I wanted the position so bad but I was not that lucky to have it.

"Honey," my wife said as she caressed her hands on my shoulders. "Tama na yan, it's okay," she added, trying to comfort me. She pulled a chair for herself and faced me. "I hate seeing you so upset. Do you want me to do anything?"

I did not look at her. I continued holding my glass of wine while staring at the corner. "No. Just leave. I want to be alone," I told her still so upset.

"But," she continued.

"Please, Hon. Leave," I then looked at her in the eye to convince her. Just as I did, she stood up and locked the door. But as she left, I was disturbed yet again. My phone rang beside me. I wanted to ignore it but when I noticed it was Dawn, I immediately laid my glass of wine on the table and picked up the phone.

"Hello, Goma. How are you? I've been so worried about you!" Dawn exclaimed the moment we got connected through the wire. "Goma? Are you there?" she asked as she heard nothing in response.
