XX. GLUED (REUNITED 2 OF 3)

DAWN ZULUETA.

“Hindi ka ba nagsisisi na ako ang kasama mo ngayon?”  Richard whispered to me on our way to our seats inside the hall.

And as I carefully took my seat with Richard still holding my hand, I responded with a thin smile until I found the words to say. “Goma naman! I can’t think of anyone else to spend this night with. Ikaw ang favorite leading man ko on TV and movies diba?”

“On TV and movies lang pala e,” he pouted and stood up as if walking out. So quickly, I pulled him by the wrist and put him back to his seat. “Saan ka pupunta?” I giggled. “Iiwan mo ako dito? Umupo ka nga diyan Goma. Ano bang gusto mong sabihin ko?”

The lights inside the hall got dimmed that time and we couldn’t see each other very well. What Richard did was get his phone from his pocket and shed screen light on his face. He looked at me and he murmured, “Gusto kong marinig yung totoo.”

“Yung totoo? Hmmmm…” I smiled and he patiently waited for my answer. “Ikaw ang sweet lover ko on and off screen! Mula noon hanggang ngayon!”

“Ano? Hindi ko marinig. Lumapit ka nga,” he said as the music blasted around the hall. And because we could barely hear each other, I did so. I could feel the surface of his cheeks and my lips almost kissed his ear when I whispered, “Ang sabi ko, ikaw ang sweet lover ko on and off screen!”

“Hindi ko talaga marinig e. Lumapit ka pa,” he complained.  So I moved even closer until I could feel my lips touching the surface of his ear.  I repeated, “Ang sabi ko, Mr. Richard Gomez, ikaw ang sweet lover ko on and off screen!”

He then laughed a bit and moved closer to me as well. With his lips so close to tickling my ear, Richard added, “Hindi lang ako ang lover sa ating dalawa. Ikaw rin kaya!”

And admitting his claim, I did nothing but laugh as well. But it stopped when Richard took my hand to plant a kiss on it and wrap it with his. “Uy Goma,” surprised as I was. “Baka may makakita sa atin at kung ano pa ang isipin.”

He didn’t seem to mind the people around though and kept my hand sandwiched instead. “Don’t mind them. It’s none of their business. Besides, madilim naman e!” he chuckled into my ears and then winked at me.

More minutes passed by and our hands were no longer holding each other. We let go when our friends started coming to know how Richard was doing after his unfortunate bid. Richard entertained them of course. Though he smiled the whole time, I knew there was still pain and he didn’t really want to talk about it. So when people finally left us, poor Richard sighed and looked down.

“It’s okay, Goms. Forget it,” I comforted him while caressing my hand through his neck to his head, head to his neck, back and forth a couple of times. Because I was bothered to see him still looking down, I lifted his chin and slowly kissed his cheek. If it could make him feel a little better, I hoped.

And just as I did, Richard gazed at me with excitement painted in his glowing face. “Bakit mo ako hinalikan?” said my surprised leading man.
