You looked at the wooden ceiling, admiring the hard work your friends put into this shelter.
Get up Y/n, we had a deal.
Bill's voice sounded in your head, you got up reluctantly, going to the square opening that was your window, leaning against the frame.
'What the hell am I supposed to do now?!' You thought, regretting your decision about helping this thing.
I'll have you know I'm a demon, not a "thing", now I need you to get to the ground.
You growled in annoyance, looking out and down the window, seeing large branches that could get you to the ground and up again.
You sighed, jumping out the window and landing on a branch nearby.Once you got to the ground you crossed your arms.
That took you long enough.
Bill commented in your head, you glared at nothing in particular.
Go to the lake, here I'll take you!
Suddenly you were pushed forward, you panicked, trying hard not to scream as some unknown force pushed you along. After a while, there was one last forceful push that made you face plant into the bank of a lake.
'What the fuck was that for?!'
You thought, standing up, brushing the sand off.
I need you to go find a body that has been preserved by the minerals of the water, it's towards the edge, so you don't have to swim that much.
Bill explained, you groaned.
Hey, at least I'm not using YOUR body!
You sighed.
'Fine! Fuckin' Fine!'
You took off your shoes and dove into the lake, trying to find this body that some asshat demon told you to find.A couple of minutes past as you kept diving for this godforsaken body until you found a dead teen with a mop of golden blonde hair.
That's the one!
You dove deeper to retrieve the dead guy before pulling it to the sand, leaving you gasping for air.
That wasn't so hard was it?
You glared at the sand.
'This is bullshit! Why the hell do you need some dead guy?!' You thought, sitting cold and wet on the lake's beach.
So I don't have to stay in your head, duh.
You sighed, leaning over the body.
'What now?' You thought harshly, rubbing your arms, your large f/c t-shirt dress clinging to your body.
I got it from here.
Suddenly you started coughing, your throat catching something as it tried escaping.
After a small fit if hacking, a small orb of light launched from your mouth, landing violently in the sand before rolling into the dead teen's mouth.
'I'm going back to the treehouse, fuck this.' You thought bitterly, standing up and walking away. After climbing back to your room, you got back into the cot, the sheets still warm from earlier.
You hummed and closed your eyes.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The door suddenly swung open, revealing Enya in her signature outfit, looking happier than usual, and bounding over to your bed.
"Y/n get up! Evie said she'd show us around town!" She cheered, tugging off the sheets and pulling you up.
"Alright, alright! I'm getting there!" You told her, thanking the universe for drying your clothes in bed, however that happened.
"C'mon lets go!" Enya said, taking your wrist and dragging you along."How did you manage to get a job Evelyn?" You asked as the tween put an apron on to complete a cafe uniform.
"I don't know, however, I got a job. That's all that matters." The bleach-blonde replied, turning and walking over to you. "I got about an hour before my shift, so I'll give you a small tour." Evelyn leaned out into the small hall.
"Enya! We're going!" She called, you heard soft footsteps as the albino toddler ran up to the room. Enya skid to a halt in front of the door.
"Let's go!"The little town was actually very big, many small shops, long paths, various museums for practically useless things, and many people who were all strange.
You walked beside Evelyn as she carried the albino 3 year old in her arms.
"I work at this diner, and police don't care around here about labor laws, so this is how I earn money as Brad hunts for boars and deer and stuff." She explained, turning the block. You nodded and continued to walk with her, conversing about how this town works until she got to the diner she worked in.
"I'll let you explore, I have to stay here for my job." Evelyn said, setting a jumpy Enya to the ground.
"Bye Big Sister!" She cheered as the 12 year old smiled one last time before leaving you.
"C'mon Enya, let's go find some places." You said, grabbing her hand gently before walking down the street.
You two saw many interesting things, a few strange people, and a couple stores that you and Enya past, you two then wound up in an ice cream parlor. That's where you saw him.
"Enya we have to go." You whispered, holding her hand a bit tighter.
"Huh?"
"We have to go now." You repeated, more firmly as you walked back to the door.
You pushed the door open and stepped out when-
"Y/n!"
You scooped up the toddler and ran, not looking back as you sprinted out of town, knowing full well who was behind you.
Enya peered over your shoulder.
"Y/n? Who was that man?" She asked, her pink eyes locked on something behind you.
You swallowed.
"Someone I wish didn't know my name." You told her, reaching the large tree, you looked behind you.
Instead of waiting for the ladder, you threw Enya on a large branch above you, then jumping up yourself.
You place the toddler on your back and began to climb.Once you reached the top, you placed Enya in your room.
"Enya I need you to stay here."
You looked down.
"I'll be back, I promise."
The three-year-old's eyes widened.
"Wait don't-"
Her words were too late, for you had already began to slide down off the tree.Once on the ground, you sprinted deeper into the forest, picking up speed as you searched for the monster that had already ruined your short-lived freedom.
