It had been a week since then.

A whole week since that anonymous phone call from her stalker, which had left her feeling more anxious than ever before.

She had waited, agitated, for another phone call, message, or even yet another parcel, but nothing of that sort came.

It should have been reassuring, yet that somehow left her feeling even worse than had there been any sort of sign.

Siya clutched her left forearm tightly, a habit of hers to ease her mind whenever things got a bit too overwhelming.

Yuvaan was at school; she had been extra careful of her son's security as of late.

She had checked her entire house, rummaged through her closest and cupboards, and to her horror, had discovered a hidden camera in the aperture between flowers in her vase.

She was sure that her stalker had planted that offensive item in her home.

But how, she had wondered, had that person managed to get inside her apartment?

She always locked the door whenever she went out for work, and other than that, she had always made it clear to the governess to keep the door locked when she was taking care of her son.

Who could have broken into her house, then?

Was it the governess...?

Siya shook her head, knowing that was impossible.

Not even any encounter with her son's biological father had ever left her feeling so agitated and in a constant state of panic.

Biting her lower lip unconsciously, she pondered her options. She could go to the police, but she had her doubts about them being of any help. She would die before asking for help from her father, no matter how powerful he was. No way was she going to be in the same vicinity as her evil step mother and sister.

The only option hence left was...

She sighed, rummaging through her purse and pulling out a cigarette from it. She put it between her lips, and held the silver lighter tightly in her trembling hands. She took a long, slow drag of the cigarette, watching as small puffs of smoke release from between her lips.

She knew, that as a doctor, she shouldn't be using such a poisonous substance. But, alas, she was a human, and had to release her stress in some way. She couldn't be throwing and smashing things now, no, she was too old for that...

The sun had begun to set, painting the sky in an orange hue, basking her in the warm and golden rays of the setting sun.

"Isn't it unadvisable for a doctor to be smoking?"

The deep, honeyed voice behind her startled Siya, and she almost dropped her cigarette. Yet, she did not turn back to address her intruder.

"May I sit here?"

He asked, mainly because she had so clearly ignored his previous question.

When she didn't answer him, he huffed, both in annoyance and amusement.

"I'm taking your silence as consent, then", and he took the empty chair next to her.

Siya kept her eyes firmly in front of her, as if the man next to her were a stranger. Oh, how she wished he was a stranger.

"Are you on break?" he tried again, as she had not so much as acknowledged his unwanted presence during her quiet, peaceful self-time.

Siya finally turned to look at him, frowning slightly.
