Everything felt normal again.

The routine you created before the whole...incident...quickly fell back into place over the course of the following few days. You seldom felt the intense need to stare at the glowing mark etched into your skin anymore.

Perhaps it was because by doing so, it gave you a newfound sense of dread. Every glance, each stare, and even a half-second glimpse shot fire up your spine at the mere acknowledgement of the dwindling numbers. So you opted to cover your shame. To hide it from the very one who caused it.

"My dear!" Alastor's voice trailed into the room where you sat curled up on a plush chair, book in your lap. His steps grew closer, quickly peeking around the corner. He ended up spotting you, despite how you shrunk into yourself.

He trotted over, smile as bright and careless as ever. "I must say, it is wonderful to have you back to your regular self. I know my listeners have dreadfully missed your melodious voice making an appearance every now and again. And, I must admit, I missed your company as well."

You couldn't help the way your heart beat faster. It was no secret you still were mad at him. But how long could you truly stay mad at such a gentleman? This is how it started in the first place. And you let yourself fall, drown to the madness of infatuation.

"I've missed you too." Your voice was nothing more than a whisper. To speak anything other aloud would be lying. But to stay silent, well, that would hurt just as bad.

You sat comfortably next to him in the small recording booth at the back of the antique shop. He was in the middle of answering questions with a caller when he turned to look at you. His eyes danced with mischief. His hands, careful as ever, removed his headset so that the voice could be heard throughout the small room.

He cleared his throat, causing the caller to stop. "Apologies, dear caller. But this program is about to end. To my listeners out there, we have our favorite guest back! Today, to start off, we will be answering your questions. Call into the show in two hours when we are back from break. See you then!"

"The call button is blinking again," you coughed out.

He turned back to the soundboard. "Ah, hello caller! This will be our last call before our break." He warned. "What do you have to say, dearest listener?"

The voice on the other side of the phone crackled to life, speaking clearly, yet something still buzzed into the air.

"Hi Alastor! I don't have any questions, but I just had to call in before break started. I admit, I didn't care to listen to your show before the 'Bedtime Story' started when my friend referred me, but I absolutely fell in love. It's just so!!! — sorry I got a carried away."
