Choi Han sat down next to Cale, the couch shifting under his weight. Cale slid down towards him and let himself fall onto his lap. Choi Han looked down at his nephew's friend quizzically. Cale continued to think with a concentrated expression.
"Cale-nim?" He looked down at him like an innocent puppy. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Choi Han's eyes then sharpened, and Cale shivered. What a threatening stare from a vicious bastard. Cale looked away.
"Don't take all the burden." Choi Han said slowly and deliberately. Like he was a finger snap away from beating it into his head. Cale nodded. He sat up and gestured to the magic communication device.
Choi Han lifted an eyebrow. Choi Han wasn't sure about why they had brought it, especially since they didn't bring Raon along. They didn't bring any magicians. The universe they were in was completely devoid of magic and mana. Was he waiting for a call from Roan?
"I need to call Alberu, but I can't. Any ideas?"
Choi Han hummed and thought hard, stroking his chin. He looked around the room. It was decrepit and run down. Water dripped down from the rusted roof and there were gaps in the roof. It was one of the worse places they had to bunk in a while. The dinky place didn't even have electricity. They had candles for dang sake. Candles...
"...summon him?"
Cale blinked.
"What, like a demon?"  Cale thought back. They were in a demon-run world, it wouldn't be that crazy. "I don't have a ouija board."
"I was thinking about Bloody Mary, but that would summon the wrong person." Choi Han paused. "We have to make a new chant."
"Do you have a mirror?" Cale looked over at him with a mischevious smile. Choi Han stood up and walked over to the other room over. He heard Beacrox grumble with a strong annoyance. Then he watched Choi Han hurry over with a shiny metal plate, Ron following behind.
"I've got something." Choi Han closed the windows, covering it with the metal shutters. The clattering was confusing to Ron. He was about to ask why they were turning the room so dark when Choi Han rushed past and gave his serving plate to Cale.
Cale took the mirror and brought the candle into his hand. He looked straight in the mirror with his stoic expression. The candle brought an orange light across his features, and he looked scary. His eyes flickered orange and red. Ron lifted an eyebrow.
"Slut, slut,-" Choi Han choked and struggled to breathe. "slut." As soon as Cale finished he laughed himself. Tears streamed down Choi Han's cheeks and they both lost it laughing. They leaned against each other. Ron looked at Cale worriedly despite his benign smile.
"Young Master, you shouldn't call yourself that."
Then the magic communication device buzzed. They stopped laughing. The communication device was bright red. They shared a glance and Cale scrambled to answer it. He took out his mana stone necklace and rested it against the communication device. The little Raon head stone smiled bright against the magic communication device.
"Greetings young master silver-" Alberu started before pausing. Cale was completely serious, but Choi Han was buckled over laughing. Ron blinked at Alberu confusedly. "Okay... what happened before I called? I like jokes. What's the joke?"
"No, there's no joke. I was just trying to summon your presence since I missed the lovely sun of Roan-" Cale said smoothly with a glib tongue. Choi Han laughed harder, and Ron looked as if he had a realization. Then Alberu watched as Ron faced away from the magic communication device.
"Shut it. Choi Han? Was that really what happened?" He looked at him straight in the eyes.
Choi Han nodded. "That's really what happened." He could barely get it out between his fits of laughter. And for some reason, Alberu felt like the joke they were laughing about. Alberu regarded him skeptically, but he knew he couldn't act. So he let it go.
