Cale sipped his sweet floral tea as he flicked through the pages of his novel. Every few seconds, he glanced up to the window. Billos' inn had a good view of what laid beyond the territory walls, and he could any visitors. Choi Han would be here any minute now.
Although he could somehow keep up with the novel despite his distractions, he started to get filled with disgust with it. A dumbass hero, continually sacrificing himself for the kingdom. Who would be so stupid to do all that? When he had so many resources and lives to spend instead?
He recoiled in disgust at the hero, on his knees, bleeding out. The smile on his face, the gentle demeanour, the comforting nature. It repulsed him, seeing someone so willing to die. Did he not value his life? Was he unaware of the fact he only gets one?
His parents died for him to live. And he is carelessly throwing his life around. Its the only gift he has ever gotten from his parents, and he messes with it like its worthless. His life was costly, and here he was, trying to save people by killing himself. So stupid.
Cale cringed, remembering his hyungs on the death bed. Their shaking body, the convulsions, the blood. So much blood. Iron scented the air, making it sickly sticky. Kim Rok Soo's shoulder stung as his arm laid limply out of his socket. His hand, shaking as he tried to pull his hyungs up and onto his back to bring them back. Their final words.
Cale tightened his grip on the book, and pulled both sides angrily. The spine cracked, the plastic tore and the pages ripped out easily. He threw the pieces of the book to either sides of him. He finished his tea and stood up. The dark figure was outside the gate, and he saw him get rejected.
His eyes narrowed, and a malicious glint sparkled in his eyes. The poor man was going to beg to be let free from his debt once Cale got his hands on him.

He kicked the plate of chicken over to Choi Han who jumped at the sound. He could feel the glare on his skin, but Cale was able to ignore it with the power of alcohol. Drunk confidence fueled his veins, making him feel stronger and more distant.
"Rip those up for them." Cale threw the order out casually. Choi Han's gaze fixed on the little kittens, who hid behind the dumpster next to him. They both jumped as Cale's steely gaze fixed on them. Cale lifted them up with his leather shoe and gently pushed them towards Choi Han.
Choi Han continued to regard him, finding him to be suspicious, but complied anyways. The chicken smelled amazing, the crunchy chicken skin crackling under his fingertips. Almost instinctively, he took a piece and licked it off his fingers.
It was bland, unseasoned, but good. So good. He was so hungry. His mouth filled with saliva as he ripped the chicken into shreds. He pushed it towards the kittens, who had watched him eat. They demolished the plate in seconds. Choi Han let out an amused breath as the littler red one still had chicken shreds stuck to the fur on his mouth.
He moved to clean the fur when the littler kitten hissed. Choi Han blinked once or twice before glaring back at the kitten. Cale snickered. It might've been him who actually brought the food but Choi Han was the one who helped. Little brats.
He had no idea what Choi Han was thinking, but he did remember how he had a badly short temper. He crouched down and pointed at the little red kitten's mouth who started to paw at his mouth and clean the chicken off.
His eyes flickered back to Choi Han, who's eyes were still glaring at the red kitten. So Cale took his time to fully take in the homeless-looking Korean.
