WE EMERGED FROM the Lighthouse safe and sound. The relief of seeing my friends again and learning that no one is in life-threatening danger repays me for the sufferings accumulated in a single, hellish day. It is a touching reunion, full of questions about what I did, how Gaz and I are doing, why she has a blood-soaked shirt and I am dirty from head to toe. Syl, then, is uncontrollable since she sees her Faoi again, and it's tender to understand that a connection is starting to form between them. One day, Gaz will fully bond with her Dragon, I am sure of it.
We take the ship that docks at a strategic point a few kilometers from the demonic tower, on a beach with pitch-colored sand. I thought life would never grant me such joy: Gaz was snatched from death, and I have lifted a burden that lasted sixteen years. I defeated my fear of failure and reclaimed my freedom. But I do not rejoice as much as I would like, and the guys, during the quick return trip — with Syl following us from above — try to investigate, understanding that something is still wrong. I remain silent. Soon they will know that their existences are a reflection of what they were in the past... what we were. And we must become again.
The only safe haven at our disposal where we can rest freely is my home: the Swamp of Deoraiocht, where the Fairies await me with great anticipation. This is also a beautiful moment.
"I am free from the curse," I tell them, and in an instant, they are all over me, crying and shouting with happiness. Then the screams of fear come, because they realize I brought some people with me and a Dragon. The Great Father Nightmare has to intervene to restore order, assess the danger of my company, give me permission to let them stay with me, and then... well, he also bursts into tears when I give him the good news. A very rare event.
