Some Facts about College Fund that You Probably Didn't Know:
1. Contrary to what I think some believe, Cassidy is not based off of me. In fact, I don't think I've ever written a story where the main character is based off of myself. Cassidy is actually completely opposite to me in many ways, which is what made her very interesting to write. She's very emotional, and tends to make decisions based on her emotions. This creates inner conflict, because she wants to make decisions with her head but always feels the tug of her heart. Cassidy is also fairly shy, and doesn't know how to stand up for herself. She relies heavily on her friends (especially Bria) to defend her.
2. Esther is a very random character. In fact, she probably seems unnecessary to a lot of you. Well, I needed a way for Bria to meet Will. There was supposed to be more for her character, though. I had a whole sub-plot planned that was going to develop upon Esther's relationship with her sister and Bria and Will's relationship. You can tell that I attempted to squeeze it in there in the last chapter. If I were to rewrite this story, I would take Esther out completely and leave her story for a spinoff novel. Maybe I should do that...
3. Adding onto my first fact: the only character based off a real person in my story was Sage, based off my wonderful bff boring_tings. I would highly recommend to all of you to base a character off of one of your friends... whenever I had a bit of writer's block I would think of something funny she did and be inspired ;)
4. The whole idea of College Fund kind of came from my sister... she always talks about wanting to go on a trip around the world with her best friend and that turned into Cassidy and Bria taking on Europe together.
5. Speaking of that... the trip Cassidy and Bria went on was originally supposed to be a trip around the world... but then I decided to make the story more about Cassidy maturing as a person and less about her adventure.
6. Eric was never supposed to be Cassidy's boyfriend. In fact, when I wrote him into the first chapter, I never expected to write his name again. He was just supposed to be a random ice cream worker, and nothing more than that. But then I thought that there weren't enough boys in the story, and I didn't want Cassidy to go to her dad's hospital alone... Then after that intense breakup I felt bad for him and wanted him to get a better ending than that. That's why Eric started out as a snarky cool guy and suddenly became a total romantic. If I were to rewrite the story I would make that transition a little smoother and more believable lol. But we all ship #cric right?
7. Margaux and Spencer's breakup only occurred because I felt like the story needed a little more drama. Oops.
8. I don't know if you noticed, but I never gave Margaux's mom a name.
9. I actually wrote Cassidy's essay that appears in the last chapter while I was only about half way through the book. I wanted to spend a long time on it so that it would convey exactly what I wanted it to.
10. Someone actually caught onto this because they read my rant book, but I came up with the idea for Bria to be Chinese and adopted because one day I want to adopt a girl from China.
11. Also, I volunteer at a music camp where everyone wears name tags, and I love to read all the different names. As it turns out, a girl named Bria was in my drum class. I loved her name, so I decided to use it. She has no idea about my Wattpad and also has no idea that I used her name.
12. I'm obsessed with Shania Twain. That's why Eric sings You're Still the One to Cassidy.
13. Cassidy's town, Mapletown, is based off of my hometown. I think that's why some people think I based her off of myself.
14. Officer Donna Hill is actually named after my mom, mostly because I was too lazy to try and think of a name.
I hope you guys enjoyed this, my friend boring_tings did this when she finished her story Missing Ian and I thought it was a cool idea so here we are!
