"Come again?" I asked, confused. Was she being serious?
"Your native land is Sio, Chris. Well, partly. Your father is a Siomean, I guess, but your mother is human. So you are half Siomean." My head started to spin and I looked up at the sky to see a few stars already starting to light it up.
"If this is some kind of practical joke, then it's not funny." I said with a frown and turned to her. She shook her head.
"It's not a joke. But you've never been to Sio because you were born here. Serpius was the same." This was all too much. I shook my head and started to walk back the way we'd come.
"But how could people from a different galaxy possibly make it here?!" I demanded and she raised an eyebrow. The Andromeda Galaxy was light years away, and there was no way that something could travel through space for that long before dying from old age. Unless the people from Sio were immortal.
"They built a portal. Their technology is far superior to our own, and they managed to beam a few Siomean's here. The portal has been destroyed now though." I raised my eyebrows and concentrated on not passing out. Thalia pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and I looked to the floor. She looked very beautiful in this light and I knew that there was something I had wanted to ask her for a long time. It would also take my mind off of all of this alien stuff.
"Tia...can I ask you something?" I looked up at her nervously. Her eyes connected with mine and she smiled.
"Yeah, sure." My heart started to race as I tried to organise the words in my head. This was nerve racking, and it took everything within me not to stutter.
"Will you be my girlfriend? I know we haven't really kissed that much, or gone on many dates, but -" I was cut off when her lips crushed against mine, passionate yet soft. I instantly kissed her back and grabbed her waist. For a moment, I felt like I was in complete ecstasy as we stood there, wrapped in each other's arms. But then she pulled away and I opened my eyes, looking at her every feature. She blushed and I grinned.
"So I take that as a yes, then?" I asked with a smirk and she rolled her eyes, nodding. She clasped my hand and squeezed it. We walked back through the doors leading to the rest of the facility, Thalia's hand in mine, and she stopped and turned to me.
"I've just realised...I never gave you a proper tour of this place." She said with a frown and I shrugged. It would be nice to have a look round the place.
"Yeah. That would be cool." I said, flashing her a smile. She grabbed my hand tighter and we sped off, whizzing down the hallway. A couple of doorways flashed past and I felt Thalia start to slow down a little. I also slowed down and we stopped less abruptly than we had earlier, thankfully. This time, I didn't go crashing into a wall.
"This room is the main food court. You will get all of your meals here." She looked into the scanner and the doors slid open slowly, revealing a couple of rows of floating tables. A few people sat at them, atop floating chairs, all wearing the same black jumpsuits that Thalia and I were wearing. I stared at them in awe, my mouth hanging open. Thalia snorted and that brought me out of my trance. I looked at her incredulously.
"What? They have floating chairs and tables!" I hissed and she laughed, almost choking on her own spit.
"You can create a fire in the palms of your hands; you can move things with the power of your mind; you can dissolve into thin air. And you think that floating tables are weird?!" She exclaimed and everyone in the food court looked at us in slight annoyance. I laughed and Thalia closed the door on the people eating, giving them some privacy.
"Okay, you've got a point. But it's still weird. How is it possible?" She rolled her eyes and grabbed hold of my hand.
"They're from Sio. Pretty much everything here is from there."
