Laura entered her class earlier than anyone else, so she didn't have to run into anybody or take their seat. She was the most shy girl you could ever meet, the only person she talks to is Lilly, even though other people try talking to her. Laura would answer them if they had any questions, but she would keep her answers short and to the point.

Laura took her seat in the very back and waited five minutes for another couple girls to walk in. These girls were really nice, but they knew how shy Laura was. That's why no one talks to her, but it was ironic because one of the girls was walking to her.

"Hey Laura. I heard about what happened outside this morning, I'm so sorry. Tommy is just an asshole, don't worry about him," she said with a smile.

Laura nodded and took a deep breath. "Thanks Brittney."

"Don't thank me. I'm just glad Lilly was there in time to stop him. Don't take this the wrong way, but you need to start sticking up for yourself because Lilly isn't always going to be around."

"I know. That's what she told me. I'm going to try to stand up for myself one of these days," Laura said, nodding until she felt it get awkward. "Class is about to start, so I'm going to head back to my notebook then," Laura said politely.

Brittney nodded and headed back to her own desk. Brittney wasn't popular, so maybe that's why she decided to talk to her. Brittney hung out with a couple popular kids, but also hung out with just the averages. Either the shy ones, fun but a little nerdy ones as long as she had something in common with them. Also, Brittney was fairly pretty for an average. She had short black hair with blue highlights, wore colorful clothing on some days and wore casual outfits the next, was 5'6, had blue eyes and was thicker than most girls, like she wasn't skin to the bone, but she wasn't overweight either.

Anyways, class started and everyone was at their desk as the teacher walked in. The teacher always arrived after the bell. Laura didn't know why the teacher could be late without getting in trouble, but most of the time, she didn't care.

"Okay class. Get out your notebooks, we'll be taking notes," he said with a smile. That smile soon faded as soon as he heard the whole class groan. He rolled his eyes and turned to the board.

"Hey baby, I heard what you and Tommy were doing outside today. He says you're quite the kisser," one of Tommy's buddies leaned over and whispered to her. She shook her head and ignored him. Then, he started to run his hand up her leg, and he whispered, "How good of a kisser are you?"

"Mark! Leave her alone!" Brittney yelled at him from across the room.

Laura looked at Brittney, and Brittney just nodded and sat back down. Mark rolled his eyes and sat back as the teacher turned around to look at him. "Is everything okay back there?"

"Yeah, Mark's just being an asshole," Brittney said, glaring at him.

"Well then. Fix the problem. I don't need that kind of behavior in my classroom."

"Boo who," Mark said under his breath.

Laura rolled her eyes and started to title her notes.

"Hey Laura, wait up." Laura turned around as Brittney approached her. "Hey, I'm sorry about Mark..."

"It's okay. I'm used to it."

"Laura, I've seen you get bullied by these guys for a long time, and it's not right. I'm just sorry I didn't step in sooner. You or no one else deserves this."

Laura nodded. "I have to go, but I'll see you later." She saw Brittney turn back and run over to her other friends to probably talk about the latest t.v. series she's obsessed with. Laura kept walking down the hall when she was stopped by Lilly.

"Hey. Is everything okay?" Lilly asked.

 "Yeah, why do you ask?"

"I heard Mark was messing with you. What did he do?"

"He ran his hand up my leg and kept telling me to kiss him," Laura replied, shrugging her shoulders like it wasn't a big deal.

"Oh hell no. Where is he? He wants to die doesn't he?"

"Lilly, it's okay. I'm really starting to not care anymore. If this is how it's going to be..."

"Now you listen to me. We are going to get through this, okay? Those assholes have no right to be messing with you. You have done nothing to them, and I'm getting really sick of this," Lilly exclaimed. While she continued her lecture, Laura noticed that Tommy walked behind her and winked at Laura as he passed. Lilly noticed that Laura was looking behind her, so she looked behind her and said,"What do you want asshole?"

"Wow. I was just walking by, no need to call me such names."

"If winking is what you call walking by," Laura said under her breath.

"What was that?" Tommy said, starting to walk to her. Soon enough Lilly jumped in front of her, and said,"You better stay away from her."

 "Or what?"

"I can tell your father that you're doing every drug out there. I don't think your businessman of a father would agree that his sweet little guy is doing drugs, sleeping with every girl he sees and whatever else," Lilly said confidently.

Tommy looked at her surprised. "You know my father?"

"Sure do. He comes into my mom's work everyday."

Tommy cleared his throat and looked at Laura. "Sorry." With that, he walked away.

Laura looked at Lilly. "I thought all your mom does is babysit because she got laid off from her other job."

"She does, but he doesn't have to know that."

Laura laughed and linked arms with her best friend as they headed off to their next class. "You should've seen his face though," Lilly said, giggling.

"I thought he was going to shit himself," Laura agreed.

The school day was officially over. Everyone was walking out the school doors, going their own ways. "Are you sure you're going to be safe walking home?" Lilly asked her.

"Yeah, you can go walk with your boyfriend. I'll be fine. My house is just down the street."

 "Only if you're sure..."

 "Go!" Laura exclaimed, smiling.

Lilly nodded and walked over to her boyfriend as Laura quickly started to walk to her house. She started down the sidewalk that hardly anybody takes to go home. This was good, so she wouldn't run into Mark or Tommy. Or so she thought.

All of a sudden, she felt someone's hand on her shoulder. She turned around and saw Mark. "What are...?"

Laura didn't get to finish. His lips were already against hers. She kissed him back, then she pushed him back. "What the hell? Why are you following me?"

He ignored the question. "You are a good kisser," he said, licking his bottom lip.

 "Why are you following me?"

"Look, I need to talk to you about Tommy. It's about his father. Your friend mentioned him, and he didn't like it. I know his father might be a famous businessman and all, but Tommy and his father have been off the same page for awhile. He feels like his father doesn't even love him anymore, so if you can, can you, like, not mention him anymore."

"Okay. Sorry." Laura said, starting to walk away. She was surprised to see that he didn't follow her. All he did was turn around and walk the opposite direction. She was relieved. His father is a famous businessman and he still feels like he's not loved? Laura began to think to herself.
That's surprising. He should feel lucky his dad actually cares enough and works. Laura just couldn't believe that Tommy could feel unloved. He has a good father that has a good paying job, there's a roof over their head and everything else. I don't get it. She shook away the thought as she approached her house. She took a step onto her porch, digging in her pocket for the house key; she never knew if it was going to be unlocked or not. She put the key in the door, but the key didn't work. She turned the handle, and it was turning easy... The door is unlocked?
She pushed open the door and saw something that shocked her. Her blood ran cold as she closed the door behind her.
