"What's the answer to number seven?" Lilly asked Laura.
"Lilly, you didn't even read the question yet."
"Did so. It makes no damn sense."
Laura rolled her eyes. "You're doing the next one if I give you this answer."
"I don't give a damn. Just give me the answer."
"Damn, calm your tits. It's 44."
"Thanks best friend," Lilly said, writing the answer down on her paper, satisfied.
"Sure. Go on and do the next one while I move on."
"You're moving on without me?"
"You do a question, I do a question. We exchange answers, then."
"I knew you were the smart one in this equation." Laura shook her head, trying her best not to laugh at her terrible word play. Lilly always thought she sounded smarter when she used math terms. She wasn't the best in math, but who is? Anyways, Laura and Lilly turned their heads back to their papers and continued to work as Laura drifted on the small fact about what Jayce was doing at the moment.~~~~~~
"Bruh, how are you even into that Laura chick? She doesn't even have a nice ass," one of Jayce's friend's asked him. Jayce looked at him.
"I'm with her because she's beautiful in my eyes. It doesn't matter that she doesn't have the perfect body in the world. That's what makes her unique." This made his friend snicker.
"Dude, you have one weird mind on how girls work," his friend said, looking away for a second.
"I think it's the other way around."
Ignoring the comment, he said, "Oh...I know what you're doing. You're making her think you like her, but you're going to get her in bed then break her heart."
Jayce looked at him in disgust. "What the hell is wrong with you? I don't break hearts like you and your buddies do."
"Bruh. Calm down."
"Calm down? Dude, you're disgusting. Girls aren't toys, you piece of...."
Jayce shook his head, took a deep breath and walked away from him. He decided to sit next to one of the guys he met in his previous class. This guy was an average guy, he wasn't a big jock who liked to show off just for the hell of it. "Hey dude, how's it going?"
"Sup, Jayce. What was going on over there? It looked like you were about to beat his ass." Jayce chuckled.
"I was about to, but I can't afford to get suspended right now."
"What was the douche bag saying?"
"Talking shit about my girlfriend."
"Wait, you mean Laura Collins?"
"Yeah, do you know her?"
"Everyone knows her. She's the main target everyone goes after." Jayce looked at him.
"Do you make fun of her?"
"No, of course not. Some of my friends do and other people do, too. Man, I'm sorry. I always confront my friends about it, but you know how us guys can be." Jayce just nodded, trying not to go off.
"Well, at least you try."
"Look, you seem cool. I respect Laura, and everyone should, too. I'll do anything I can on my part to protect her. I just hope Tommy and Mark are leaving her alone," he said, shaking his head.
"Who the hell are they?"
"They're the most popular jocks in school. A couple days before you arrived at this school, Tommy cornered Laura outside, and he tried to get in her pants. Mark is his best friend, and he harasses her, too." He stopped and took a breath. "I'm pretty sure someone said that Mark kissed her the night she got the bandage...." He saw Jayce's face so he stopped there.
"If I catch anything, it won't be pretty."
"I definitely believe that. If you clench your fists together any harder, you'll break a bone," he said, motioning to Jayce's almost white knuckled hands. Jayce shrugged and relaxed a little bit. Before anything else could be said, the dismissal bell rang for lunch, and Jayce was out of there as fast as the fastest Cheetah.
He zoomed past all the kids in his way until he saw Laura and Lilly walking out of the classroom closest to the cafeteria doors. Wow, she's beautiful. He smiled and ran up to her and grabbed her. She made a squeal noise out of surprise, and she turned around to find him there. "Jayce, what are you doing? We can't do this in school."
"I just missed you, and I wanted to know you were alright." He looked at her and smiled. "Gotta make sure you're safe.
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"No reason. Come on, I'm hungry," Jayce said, leading them to the cafeteria. Laura looked at him with a weird look. She looked back and saw Lilly talking with a girl from class, so Laura decided to catch up with Jayce's pace. "Jayce, slow down!"
He turned around, walking backwards now. "The food cannot await!" he said, throwing his fist in the air.
Laura just shook her head, running her fingers through the ends of her hair. "What is going on?" she said aloud to herself. No one heard her which is good. She wasn't in the mood to get sent to a psych right now.~~~~~~
"What do you think was up with Jayce earlier?" Laura asked Lilly as they were walking out of their last class.
"I have no idea. He looked like he had too much coffee."
Laura laughed and linked arms with her best friend as they walked to their lockers. Their lockers were right by each others, so it was easier to get out and into their lockers since Lilly occasionally forgot her combination. "Do you and Jayce have any plans for today?"
"No, not really. I'm so tired from Science today, I just want to rest and watch a movie."
"Same. I was asking because Carlos wanted to come over..."
"Did you guys want alone time?"
Lilly blushed. "Laura...Really?"
"No, seriously. I can ask Jayce to take me somewhere..." Before she could finish her thought, Lilly gasped and quickly covered her mouth.
"Lilly, what are you? Oh my god." Lilly was trying to cover Laura's eyes, but it was too late. Laura saw everything and all she could do was run the opposite direction.~~~~~
"Hey Jayce. Good job with your presentation today," one of the girls that was bullying Laura the other day said to him.
"Thanks," he said, awkwardly, trying to walk faster. She just walked faster along with him, so there was really no point. "Can I help you with something?" They kept walking until she saw Lilly and Laura talking by their lockers, and she turned back to Jayce. She stepped closer to him, and started running her hands up his arms to his chest. He cleared his throat and pushed her hands away. "Stop, I have to go talk to Laura." Before he could take two steps, she grabbed him, and pressed her lips against his.
He could feel her trying to slip her tongue in his mouth, but he pushed her back. "What the fuck? What the hell is wrong with you? You did this on purpose. You know Laura is important to me and..." he stopped because he heard crying. He looked over and saw Laura running down the hall. "Oh fuck. Laura!" He pushed the girl off him and ran down the hall after her. He reached the end of the hall, and he saw that she was already gone. Lilly's car was gone, and he was alone. He turned around in all directions but it was true. She saw everything and he had to pay for it now.
"God dammit," he groaned under his breath. He looked over his shoulder, and the girl was gone. He ran his fingers through his hair, cursing while he walked out the lonely hallways out to the parking lot.
