"Dammit, I didn't get my number after 3 tries," Lilly groaned.

 "I guess you'll have to lose a turn," Carlos said.

 Lilly rolled her eyes and threw the die at him. "No need to hate me because you can't roll a die." Carlos laughed and thought of a number. "Five." He threw the die on the table, and it landed on a five. "Nice, so my question goes to Jayce. Honestly, what was the first thing you thought when you saw Lilly and Laura?"

 "Well, I saw Laura first, and I thought she was beautiful and something about her was different than most girls. When I saw Lilly, it was when she was with Laura confronting some preps, and I thought she was friendly and also pretty."

 "She is very pretty," Carlos agreed, smiling at Lilly. She blushed and punched him in the arm which made him laugh.

 "Okay Jayce, your turn." Jayce rolled the die and smiled as he looked at Laura. "What was the first thing you thought when you saw me?"

 Laura bit her lip and shrugged. "I thought you looked pretty.....fashionable," Laura said, laughing.

 "No way, Laura. Your jaw dropped when he walked in the classroom."

 Laura shrugged. "Okay fine. I thought he was hot, is that a crime?"

 Jayce smiled at her. "Not a crime at all."

 Laura rolled her eyes and grabbed the die.

"We've been playing for an hour, can we get something to eat?" Lilly whined.

 "Damn, we better go. She gets cranky when she's hungry," Laura said, standing up.

 "Gee, thanks Laura."

 Jayce smiled and said, "Where should we go?"

 "McDonalds."

 "I thought you were on some diet."

 "I can't control my cravings," Lilly said, walking out the house.

 "She does realize she needs her shoes to go in there, right?" Carlos asked, grabbing her flats.

 "Hey, she's your girlfriend," Laura said, pulling Jayce with her.

 "She's your best friend."

 "You spend the most time with her."

 "No, I don't. You do."

 Laura stopped and pretended to think hard about that one. "Oh yeah."

 "I would complain to Lilly, but I'm afraid she'll bite my face off."

 "I heard that!" Lilly yelled from the car.

 Carlos laughed and got in the drivers seat, starting the car.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Good thing there's not a lot of people," Laura said, sitting down with Jayce while Lilly and Carlos ordered the food.
 "Yeah, it's more quiet in here."
 "So, I'm sorry if this is personal, but why did you move here?"
 It seemed like he was cut off guard with that question. "Well. You see. I had to move away, so I wouldn't be reminded of my best friend. She died in a car accident last month, and I just had to get out of there to save myself from huge depression."
 "Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked."
 "No, you're fine. It's just hard because she was everything to me."
 Laura nodded. "Do you miss her? Have you thought about her lately?"
 "Yes. I miss her like crazy. Actually, you remind me of her. She was just like you. She was shy, beautiful, funny and insecure." Insecure. That word struck her like a brick being thrown at her chest. That was the worst thing that she has heard since being thrown against a wall. Insecure. Insecure. Beautiful. He had feelings for her? Why else would he say beautiful? Did they date? I could never compete with that... She just nodded and silenced. I am so stupid. Laura started to squirm around in her seat as she waited for Lilly and Carlos. A million things were on her mind right now that she couldn't put into words. She was feeling disappoint, confusion, sadness, anger and most of all, heartbreak. Her heart was in pain because... She thought she found someone who would truly like her but now she knows the truth. Now she could see her future...
No one would be there for her. No one would care for her. No one would love her like she wants to be loved. "Hey, are you okay?" Jayce's voice broke her from her thoughts. Before she could reply, Lilly and Carlos sat down next to them.
 "Hey, sorry for the wait."
 "No problem. I'm starving."
 "Maybe if you actually ate, it wouldn't wouldn't so bad."
 "Says the girl that ran out of the house without shoes."
 Lilly crossed her arms and threw Laura's sandwich at her. Laura sighed and grabbed it. She looked at Jayce, whom was engaged in a conversation with Carlos. She sighed again, starting to unwrap her sandwhich. On any other day, she would be diving in, but now it was different. How could she eat when so much was going through her mind? She couldn't do it. She had to get up. She had to...
 She got up and ran out out of the restaurant muttering something that no one else could hear. She could tell that there was a lot of confusement from the table but she couldn't sit here and pretend everything was okay. Nothing was okay. She could hear Lilly calling her name, but she didn't care. SHe just kept her distance because now... She felt like the most stupid girl on the face of this Earth because she realized that the only reason Jayce is talking to her is because....
She reminded him of his best friend....
