"I swear she is the most boring teacher alive," Lilly told Laura once they left her classroom. Laura just nodded as she looked over all the people trying to find her boyfriend. Boyfriend? That had a funny ring to it, Laura thought to herself as she walked with Lilly to the cafeteria. "What was the whole thing in class about?" Lilly asked Laura once they had enough privacy.
"This," Laura said, pointing to her bandage. "She knows how I got this."
"That's nonsense. No one knows! The only ones who know are Jayce, Carlos and me. Who else..."
"Word spreads quickly, Lilly."
"I know, but...."
"It's no big deal. We have to focus on what's important right now."
"Right." Laura looked around the room again.
"Are we supposed to meet him here or what?"
"The plan is we all meet here and look for Tommy. Once he meets us, you and Carlos go home or wherever you want until we're done...."
"We're supposed to miss the action?"
"Do you want to hide behind a car in the parking lot?" Laura asked, putting her hands on her hips.
"As long as I get to see who throws the first punch."
Laura rolled her eyes and continued. "Anyways, wherever you guys decide to go, Jayce and I will talk to Tommy and try to blackmail him or whatever Jayce has in store for him."
"Jayce sure does love his Laura."
Laura looked at Lilly. "He doesn't love me. It's been a couple weeks, calm yourself." She saw Lilly roll her eyes as Jayce approached.
"Hey babe. Did you explain the plan to Lilly?"
"Yeah. Carlos should be waiting outside to take Lilly somewhere--unless she wants to stay and watch."
"She wants to watch?" Jayce asked, giving Lilly a strange look.
"I love drama. What can I say?" Lilly said, somewhat proudly.
Jayce rolled his eyes and gently grabbed Laura's hand. "You're ready?"
"Yes I am. I just want to get this over with."
"Same here. I hate dealing with situations like this."~~~~~
"You're Tommy, right?" Jayce asked him as they approached his car.
"Yeah, that's me. What do you want?" he replied, crossing his arms over his chest, starting to look over at Laura.
"Just wanted to talk about your girlfriend, Mindy."
Tommy was still looking at Laura. "What about her?"
Jayce tensed up a little, but he took a deep breath. "Well, I've noticed that you haven't been giving her what she needs."
Tommy snapped his head in his direction. "What do you mean by that?"
"You know...Her sensual needs because I guess she keeps hitting on me, and I felt the need to meet the guy that wasn't satisfying her," Jayce said with a sly smile planted on his face. This caused Tommy to step away from his car and get closer to him.
"I don't know who you are, but I don't appreciate you getting involved with me, thinking you can just insult me like that."
"Says the guy that sexually harassed my girlfriend," Jayce said, releasing Laura's hand, stepping closer to him as well.
"Wow, calm down buddy. I did nothing of the sort."
"The whole school knows about it, and not only that, Laura has told me about it."
Tommy smiled over at Laura. "Come on, we both know she liked it."
Laura gasped as Jayce punched Tommy right in the face. She jumped in front of him and put her hands on his chest, pushing him back. "Jayce calm down. Don't let him into your head. We're supposed to be ahead of him, remember?"
"A head? Hmm. That sounds familiar. Oh yeah, that's what my girlfriend gave your boyfriend before he met up with you today."
Laura looked at him. "She did not."
"Oh, so she does talk? Well anyways, yes she did. According to her, he liked it, too."
Laura turned back to Jayce. "Please tell me that's not true."
"Of course it's not true!" He turned his attention back to Tommy. "You listen here you little asshole. Don't you dare accuse me of things I wouldn't do in a million years! Your girlfriend is a fucking slut and we both know it. That's the only reason you're with her."
"That's true," Tommy shrugged his shoulders like it wasn't that big of a deal.
"Tommy?" They all turned around to see Mindy standing behind them with tears soaking her face. "How dare you say I gave Jayce head? How dare you say I'm a slut? Is that really all you want me for? I thought we had something going..."
"Mindy, baby, of course I don't want you just for sex. This isn't what it looks like."
"I think this is exactly what it looks like," Laura said, smiling a little bit.
"Keep your mouth shut, you little bitch," Tommy hissed. Soon after that, he was laying on the ground with blood all over his face. Jayce punched him in the face again, but this time it was multiple times. "Jayce, Jayce, get up," Laura repeated trying to pry Jayce off of Tommy.
Mindy was trying to pull Tommy from underneath Jayce as well. This has totally gone out of hand, and Laura was kind of expecting it. When they were finally separated, Laura and Mindy wrapped their arms around their boyfriends, so they wouldn't get into it again. "Look at your boyfriend, Mindy," Jayce said. "Just remember the next time you mess with me, Laura or anyone else I like or love. Just remember worse can happen."
Mindy just nodded and opened Tommy's car door. They got into his car as Mindy wiped off his face. She gave Laura a sympathetic look as they drove away. Laura looked at Jayce and noticed he had a little trickle of blood flowing down his cheek. "Jayce, are you okay?"
"Yeah, are you?"
"I'm not the one that got into a fight."
Jayce shrugged. "It was worth it."
"You can probably get in trouble for doing it on school's property."
"I don't give a damn. All that matters is Mindy and Tommy got their warning. They should leave you alone now, and all I want is that. I want you happy. I don't want you scared of them. I want you to be comfortable in your own skin." Jayce's hands were holding Laura's face now as he was leaning in to kiss her. Laura smiled. "I will be happy as long as you're by my side." She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him as it started to sprinkle. She felt his arms wrap around her waist as he pulled her closer.
"We should probably get out of the rain. Don't want you to get a cold," he whispered.
She shrugged. "I don't care."
"We should get back to Lilly though. She's probably dying to see what happened," she said, starting to pull him with her as they walked.
"No need!" Lilly said, jumping up from behind a parked car.
"Dammit Lilly! You scared the crap out of me!"
"Sorry hun," she said, smiling at Laura. "That was so entertaining, I gotta say."
"Please tell me you weren't recording."
"No, but I did get a picture."
"Lilly!"
"It's not what you think. It's a picture you'll like, I promise. I sent it to you."
"Let's go home, guys."
They all nodded and headed down the sidewalk. While they were walking, Laura took her phone out and took a peek at the picture. She didn't it expect it to, but she smiled. Tears swelled up in her eyes, too. The picture was of Jayce and Laura kissing in the rain. Goals, some would say. She shook her head and put her phone away. She couldn't stop blushing or smiling. Just the thought of having a perfect moment like that was unbelievable. She never knew she would get this far. Never knew she would actually find someone.... Someone who would want to protect her. Someone to love. She nudged Lilly who quickly turned to look at her.
"Thank you."
She just smiled. "Anything for you."
