~Lacey~

Sometimes I didn't mind being invisible. I enjoyed the solitude, the opportunity to be alone in a family where privacy was a luxury. Nothing but me, my notebooks and the realms of my imagination.

After school yesterday wasn't one of those times.

It was one of those times that I wished I could set an alarm on my brothers that would go off if I wasn't with them. When I finally made it to the parking lot, after I had to wait for the couple making out on my locker to move, it was to find that my siblings had left without me. It had taken 3 phone calls to get someone to answer their cell and then they'd been shocked when I informed them I was still at the school. Then it had taken them another 15 minutes, while still driving away from the school, for them to figure out who was coming back for me. Half an hour after I walked out of the school I was finally on my way home.

Later that night I had overheard my dad informing my brothers that he wasn't going to hack the school computer system just because they didn't like my chemistry partner. It made me a little suspicious of what might have caused them to leave without me.

That was only to be confirmed now, right here, in front of the school.

We'd made it to school without any incident. When I had gotten out of the car, for some reason, my eyes had scanned the fence. Sure enough I found Blaze, looking all T.D.D. again in black jeans, and a black and grey henley with the same motorcycle boots and leather jacket from yesterday. Those bright green eyes met mine and he lifted a hand in a half hearted wave. I'd been shocked when I felt someone yank me away from the car and turned to see all three of my brothers standing there, glaring at Blaze. That was when they confirmed last night's suspicions.

"You need to stay away from that guy," Micah, who was the one who had yanked me, was still glaring at Blaze while talking to me.

"What? Micah, he's my chemistry partner." And when did they start caring, let alone noticing me?

"We don't care, we'll figure that out. For now don't be alone with that asshole." sighing heavily, I gave all three of them a stern look.

"I don't know what your problem is but get over it." I wasn't about to let them dictate who I spent time with when they couldn't even be bothered to notice when I wasn't around.

Wesley walked over to me, put a hand on my shoulder, talking softly, "Please, Lacey. Look, we saw him talking to you at lunch yesterday and asked about him. Lacey, he's bad news. Real bad news." What the hell?! They couldn't be bothered to notice that I wasn't with them when they left school yesterday but they took the time to dig up dirt on some random guy who talked to me?! I was furious. Without a word I shoved past them, heading to my locker and homeroom.

I pulled my notebook out of my bag once I got to homeroom and started writing, furiously. I was so absorbed that I failed to notice Blaze come in and take the seat in front of me, I failed to notice him swivel in his seat.

"Hey doll, whatcha doin'?" I looked up, startled and a bit amazed that he saw me, again. Why did he keep talking to me? I was just the invisible girl, why wasn't I invisible to him? I knew what he saw. A plain girl with long, limp blonde hair and lackluster blue eyes. I was only in jeans and a loose shirt while all around me were girls with perfect makeup and short skirts and lots of cleavage. Why wasn't he looking at them? Realizing that I was just staring at him , I blushed, lowering my gaze to my notebook and covering the page I had been writing on with a hand.
