For the next two weeks I was floating on air. My parents were so upset about not seeking a second opinion or doing any research themselves and just taking the doctor at his word, even when some of them had serious doubts from the start. I thought they might try to "make it up to me" like I've heard of parents doing by using money and I had been prepared to be a complete bitch about it. Instead, they were simply spending time with me and getting to know Blaze. Uncle Raven glared at him a lot but somehow I thought it was more of a good natured kind of glare. They were really trying. Mom had even gone on the world's worst shopping excursion with me and Blaze's dad, Gabriel. Six hours! I don't know how he does it. Although it had been hilarious to watch him and Mom argue over who was paying for all the new clothes. I had a whole new wardrobe that "fucking fit properly and makes you look like a goddamn girl". I was informed if he caught me doing anything other than sleeping in my brother's shirts he would happily have Luke steal them all. Mom had put her foot down when he tried to drag us into Victoria's Secret for a bra fitting though. She told him she would handle my underwear. Of course the shopping excursion was made longer by the fact we had to find a homecoming dress, shoes, and accessories. The dress was currently hanging on the door of the closet in Blaze's room, while Gabriel was fixing my hair and makeup. Mom was fussing with the stuff laid out.

"Gabriel, are you sure she shouldn't wear hose with this? Maybe some nice sheers? Just to keep her legs warm?" Mom called out from near the bed. It was weird being in Blaze's room without him, but Gabriel had forbidden him from coming in. He'd been sent off with his clothes a while ago. I'd spent a lot of time with his family over the last two weeks and while some of them, Nathan and Silas for instance, still intimidated me, I was comfortable with most of them. I didn't even tremble around them anymore.

"Oy, are you trying to fucking ruin it? Besides she won't need to keep her damn legs warm, it's not cold!" Gabriel waved the hairbrush at Mom, who just put her hands up in surrender. I wanted to laugh, but I had been told if I moved Gabriel would make me go downstairs in my underwear. Although, I wasn't sure my dress was much better. I glanced at my dress nervously. It was beautiful but far more daring than I would have chosen on my own. It was long sleeved with a neckline that was right at the neck, form fitting and came to about mid-thigh. I know that sounds pretty tame but there's more. It was a flesh-toned, sheer material with nothing underneath. From the top of the hips, the entire bottom was beaded and sequined and sparkly. The top half was a lot more daring. The beading and sequins covered the important bits, barely, and then spread out across the arms and torso in sprays, revealing a lot of sheer covered skin. I still wasn't sure it was a good idea but I had to admit, it looked incredible on me. Gabriel said he was keeping my hair and makeup simple since the dress was so daring. I had no idea what he had done when he cut it last week but it flowed and swung, looking lighter and airy. He was playing with it now, to make it fall away from face, loosely pinning the ends of the sides together at the nape of my neck with a sparkly barrette. He'd said he didn't want Blaze to worry about eating my hair when he kissed me.

I smiled thinking of Blaze. He was probably the best part of the last two weeks. At school, ever since my little makeover, he'd gotten growlier and grumpier. He tended to shoot glares around randomly and kept muttering about "fucking assholes better keep their hands off what's mine". I had no idea what it was all about. I'd asked at lunch one day if someone had stolen something from him, it was the only explanation I could come up with, and Lesia and Malory had burst out laughing. I still don't know what was so funny. That wasn't the only difference of course. Ever since we'd become a couple it seemed like Blaze couldn't keep his hands off me. He was very affectionate, and even though PDA's made me a bit nervous Blaze had no such reservations. He was always kissing me and touching me and I couldn't sit on my own anymore. He always sat me in his lap. I was enjoying every second of it, even when it made me nervous.
