~Miles~

I was pretty sure I hadn't been this goddamn scared in my entire short existence.

I was racing through the hospital with the rest of my overly large family, one hand gripping Ariana's tight so we wouldn't lose her. Mom was in complete freak out mode. Why the flaming bunny fucks hadn't Blaze been wearing a goddamn helmet? I swear to all that's fashionable I would kill the ass myself for scaring the fuck out of me. We slammed onto the second floor like Hurricane Blackbourne had come to take every last fucker out.

And then I slammed into the back of Dad Luke. He glanced back, pulled me around to his side to check I was okay, "Careful, buddy." What the flaming hells had everyone stopped for? That was when I noticed the second floor waiting area was filled with people. A couple gals, five or six guys and a bunch of teenagers.

And that girl from school.

Oh fucking hell, why was she here? I ran a hand through my blonde hair, trying to make sure it was all laying right and glanced down at the pink and green button down I was wearing open over a white tank. Maybe I should take it off? No. Wait. She said she liked a guy confident enough to carry around pink. Hopefully that extended to wearing it too. She looked upset. She was biting her lip and pressed against someone I was guessing was her dad from the close resemblance. She glanced up and saw me and her eyes lit up. After whispering to her dad, she wove her way toward me, looking incredible in a short, swingy black skirt and a lacey purple tank. Fucking shit! What was I gonna say to her? I couldn't talk to her! All I had managed to do so far was blush around her! Oh, shit. Too late. She was here.

"Hey," Her voice was a bit breathy and those dark eyes just trapped me and I think I forgot how to talk. Again. I could feel the blush flaming across my cheeks. Thanks for that trait Mom. It's real helpful. I started twisting the pink stud in my ear, a habit I'd picked up from Dad. A thought suddenly occurred to me.

"Is Lacey your sister?" My hand dropped from my ear. I really wanted to touch her but I was pretty sure if she didn't slap me, the large tattooed guy glaring at me would kick the shit out of me. I tucked my hands deep into my pockets. She smiled at me and I'm pretty sure I lost any coherence I had left at that point. Hell, she was so damn pretty. I had no freakin idea what I was doing.

"Let me guess, the guy on the bike is your brother?" I nodded, swallowing as she stepped closer and grabbed my arm, winding her arm around it. "Looks like there's some history between our families." She nodded to where the adults were all talking and looking confused and surprised. Honestly the second I caught sight of Beautiful though I had completely lost everyone else. A guy in a doctor coat walked swiftly toward the group and immediately had everyone's attention. Beautiful leaned against the arm she was wrapped around, making me forget to breathe.

"I wonder what the story is, don't you? Kind of interesting that our sibs are dating and our families had no clue they knew each other. It sounds like the sort of thing Lacey would write about in one of her notebooks. "I...What? Who? I felt another blush crawl across my cheeks. Shit, dude, get it together. Just say something, anything.

"Um, I can't keep calling you Beautiful in my head," Not that you god damn idiot! She looked up at me, grinning.

"I don't mind you calling me Beautiful. If you want a name though it's Sasha. It's not free though, you gotta tell me yours."

"Um, Miles." I felt Sasha shiver against my arm and realized how cold it was in here. "Um, just a sec." I disengaged my arm and took off the button down I was wearing, unrolling the sleeves as I did, then tossed it around her shoulders. She smiled gratefully as she slid her arms in and wrapped it around her tightly. Damn, she looked good in my shirt. She still looked a little cold though.

"Um, maybe I could, um..." I glanced over at the adults to find the tattooed guy glaring at me again. Sasha followed my gaze then rolled her eyes and stepped into me, grabbing my hands and putting them on her shoulders before leaning against me.

"Thanks," She mumbled against my chest. Breath, Miles, breath, oxygen needed to live. I felt nerves skitter through me when the tattooed guy tapped Sasha's dad on the shoulder and said something. Oh shit, her dad was coming this way and he was looking pretty closely at me.

"Uh, Sasha, your dad is coming over here." I probably shouldn't be holding her like this when he got here.

"Which one?" She mumbled. Huh? What did that mean?

"Sasha." There was command in his tone and Sasha looked over shoulder but didn't bother backing away from me.

"Hey, dad. Miles is gonna escort me to the cafeteria for some cocoa. I'm freezing. Text us the news on Blaze, okay?" To my surprise, he just glanced at me without scowling or threatening or anything.

"Your Gabriel's aren't you?" I nodded, too freakin intimidated to speak, I mean, hell, you should have seen the muscle on this dude. He sighed and looked back at Sasha, who had moved to my side and grabbed my hand. Yeah, it was on fire right now.

"Alright, twenty minutes, Sasha. Then I come after you, got it?" I think he was trying to be firm but it was failing pretty miserably. Sasha gave my hand a tug and we started toward the stairs, her dad watching us.

Just as we went through the stairwell door, Sasha called out, "You should probably know he's taking me to Homecoming Dad!"

And there was the glower. What the fiery hells had I gotten into?
