She lost them, she couldn't believe she lost them. She had Mal and her prince right there; she had Holly and her king not as closely, but she had them. Everything had been planned out perfectly. She had been so close. She had forgotten about Carlos though. Holly was smart but she was too emotional in high stress situations, if the curse put on her was anything to go by anyway, and she knew Mal wouldn't have thought of using a fake wand. Carlos though Carlos was intelligent beyond his years, and great in high stress environments, he had to be to live with Cruella. It was why he was in Hollys inner circle even though he was younger than the rest of them. The demigoddess had seen the value in Carlos before anyone else and snatched him up quickly.

Uma slammed her door shut and sank to the floor of her cabin practically rocking back and forth, "You failed," came the whisper she dreaded, but this time there was no quiet promise, not fake softness only pure distain. "You failed," it was louder angrier. "How could you fail?" the woman snapped. "Everything was within your grasp-"

"I tried!" Uma screamed. "How was I supposed to know!"

Ate's eyes flared black, "Watch your tongue child. Remember who you are talking to."

Uma felt abject terror well up inside her, she felt the walls close in, like her cabin was getting smaller and smaller. She hyperventilated pushing herself back into the wall as she shook. She told herself that it was just a panic attack, she got those sometimes. It would pass in a few minutes.

But if it was just a panic attack then why was the ceiling getting lower? Why was she sliding forward? Why was she sliding towards a void? Pure black nothingness. Her breathing picked up if possible. "If you're so incompetent then I'll do it myself."

"No!" She screamed at the top of her lungs hoping someone heard her, Freddie, CJ, Gil, anyone. She didn't deserve their help, but she screamed anyway. "No! No! No! Wait please." She really hoped they just couldn't hear her, that Ate had blocked the sound and not that they were ignoring her even if she deserved it at this point. "I can fix this!" She screamed. The room filled out again the approaching void faded. "I can fix it," She breathed heavy gripping the wood of the cabin walls as if that would stop the goddess's wrath.

"How?" Ate growl.

Uma felt the very word sink into her bones, she had to think quickly. Luckily that's what she did best. She may not be as smart as Carlos, but she could work under pressure. "They have to leave the island, right? Meaning there'll an opening, I can jump through."

The goddess scoffed, "And what swim to Auradon?"

"Exactly," Uma feigned calmness despite the sweat dripping from her brow. Ate couldn't deny that she had the ability to do so. She had Poseidon blood in her veins. A swim to Auradon would be light work.

Ate seemed to think on it, "and you'd have magic over there." Waiting for her to make a decision was and will always be the most terrifying moments of her life. "Fine, but if you mess up again, I'm taking the reins."

Uma nodded quickly and ran. She busted out of her cabin startling her crew, who were still licking their wounds. She ran past CJ, past Freddie, past Gil and out of the bay though the back. Seeing as Holly and Mal destroyed the bridge she had to run around the back and to the entrance where they had gotten out to follow their trail. The first thing she noticed was a book on the ground, Mal's book, her spell book. Uma smiled a plan forming in her head. She followed the tire tracks to the edge of the island; she caught up just as the barrier was closing. She placed the book in her jacket and dived though into the ocean below.

She felt magic surge though her veins and her injuries heal as the water touched her skin. She had been in the water before but never like this. She could feel her power triple, she could feel and see where everything was for miles, she felt calmer. She felt like she was home. She heard Ates's voice quiet in her head, but she wasn't stupid enough to think she was safe. She shook herself out of the warm homey feeling and swam as fast as she could towards land. Night had fallen by the time she made it, and the carriages were rolling up to the school.
