It was Saturday. The Seidou first string was geared up and ready for their practice match. Though they went through long days and nights of harsh training, none of them looked tired at all. They stood tall, one member beside another. Their determined aura was practically radiating off their skin. Clearly, there was a fire lit inside of each and every one of them.

But unlike the rest of the team, Esumi sat in the dugout besides Takashima. The small brunette was subconsciously rubbing her knee with her right hand. Her left arm was wrapped tightly around herself, trying to ease the painful cramps. Takashima fixed her glasses and looked down at the tiny female. "Are you okay, Sawamura-chan?" She asked. Esumi looked up at the Seidou recruiter.

"Just that time..." Esumi muttered so none of the males heard. But Takashima heard the soft voice whisper. She laughed a bit, causing Esumi to blush slightly. "W-what?" Esumi questioned. Takashima dug around in her bag, then pulled out a small pill bottle.

"Technically, I'm not supposed to give you medication..." Takashima began. She opened up the bottle and let two small tablets fall into her palm. "But since we need you in the game.." Takashima smiled, handing the pills to Esumi. The younger female hesitated.

"Takashima-san.." Esumi whispered unsurely. Takashima flashed a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry, they're painkillers. Nothing that will give you any side effects." Takashima handed the girl a small cup of water as well. Esumi took the medication. Before anyone saw the exchange, Esumi downed the pills and water.

"Thank you, Takashima-san." Esumi thanked. Takashima smiled, and was about to ask about Esumi's knee. But Esumi had already left to stand beside her twin. Takashima frowned.

'I hope Sawamura-chan is okay..' Takashima thought, watching the female player interact with the rest of the team.

Off to the side, Kataoka was greeting the coach of Osaka Kiryu, Takahiro Matsumoto. "I thank you for taking the effort of coming here today." Kataoka and Matsumoto shook hands. "Summer's nearing too, so let's have a good game."

"Hehe...A good game?" Matsumoto questioned with a chilling smile. "If you want to have a good game...are you sure you want to have first years as your starters?" Matsumoto eyed Eijun, Haruichi, and Furuya in the Seidou dugout. Then his eyes moved to Esumi. "Much less a female.." He chuckled. "Even though I do understand that positions in the team will inevitably be experimented on to find the best line up before summer arrives......But would have never thought that we, Kiryu High, would have to face first years as our opponents. Can I assume that your first years are pitchers with unprimed potential before them? Or could it be...these two are secret weapons that you don't want opponents in the same prefecture to know about?" Matsumoto guessed with a wild grin. "Hehehe...well whatever the case, we'll try our best and enjoy the match."

Kataoka watched with a blank expression as the eerie Matsumoto made his way back to the guest dugout. During the next few moments, the field was prepped for the match and the players were finishing their stretches. Another minute later, the umpire brought Kiryu and Seido to the middle of the field to bow and give each other their respects.

The starting line up for Seidou consisted of: Jun, center fielder; Kominato, second baseman; Kuramochi, shortstop; Yuki, first baseman; Masuko, third baseman; Miyuki, catcher; Esumi, right fielder; Sakai, left fielder; Furuya, pitcher.

The starting line up made their way onto the field. Everyone planted themselves in their positions, with Furuya on the mound. Esumi exhaled, ridding the pain she felt from her head. Her brother's voice was heard from the sidelines. "What is it? Starting to feel scared!?" Eijun yelled to the calm Furuya. "Even if the opponents score like crazy! Don't worry there's still me! How about you step down now and let me pitch!?" Eijun called, trying to get a reaction out of Furuya. Furuya ignored Eijun, lifting his arms for the first pitch.
