A/n: i know this is probably the shortest chapter ive written, but honestly its just a filler! Im having a bit trouble with esumi's part and 'technique' thing. So im sorry!! (T ^ T)
It was finally the third and last match of the Doubleheader. Seido and Shuuhoku were already on field, and in the middle of their game. Inashiro stood at the sidelines, observing both teams for any challenging future opponents. Seidou was on the field in defense, whilst Shuuhoku was on the offensive.
Miyuki was out playing his role. He sent a signal to Tanba and received a nod back from the Ace. Tanba easily went through the motions of pitching. The ball rolled off his fingertips and flew toward Miyuki. A loud smack resonated throughout the field. "STRIKE THREE!" The umpire's loud thoughts broke the silence, as he told Shuuhoku's batter that he was out.
"Nice Tanba!"
"Nice pitching!"
"Keep it up!"
Seidou's member cheered from the sidelines. But on the sideline, Inashiro's catcher was watching very closely. "That curveball's damn hard to it because of its steep curve...He's a rare breed." He told Narumiya.
Back at the field, Miyuki watched the next batter step up. Very discreetly, he glanced at the batter. 'The next batter probably prefers off-speed stuff...' Miyuki thought. He smirked behind his protective mask, readying himself for another pitch.
Tanba flung the ball forward again. This time the batter made contact. It bounced, then was caught by Kuramochi. The shortstop took another step and tossed it to his partner. "Ryou!" Kuramochi called. Ryosuke caught the ball next. He leaped in the air with his usual smirk, and rocketed the ball to first. That's where the Shuuhoku batter got out.
"Hell yeah! Double play!"
"Good pitch!"
"Tanba, that was great!"
The crowd cheered happily for Seidou. Inashiro quietly discussed Tanba's pitching. "He barely allowed any hits..."
"Hm...the curveball seems to be his go-to pitch." The members of Inashiro discussed amongst themselves.
From the dugout, Esumi watched carefully. Her eyes scanned every aspect of the game taking place. She watched the struggles. Her keen golden saw every drop of sweat fall. She wanted to be out there too. 'If only I didn't have this injury.' She mentally cursed herself.
"Esumi." A deep voice called. She looked toward the man that still had his eyes trained toward the field. It was Kataoka. Esumi got up from her seat, walking toward her coach. She stood to his right.
"Yes sir?" Esumi questioned. Kataoka took a quick glance at the female player.
"You want to be out there too, don't you?" He asked, although he knew the answer already.
"Of course." Esumi replied without any hesitation noticeable.
"Then rest properly. We can't risk losing a valuable player such as yourself. It'd be a waste of talent." Kataoka ordered. Esumi looked at Kataoka in shock.
"Sir, I wasn't planning on-" Esumi was cut off before she could finish.
"I know." Kataoka answered. Esumi stayed silent for a second. Then spoke up. "Coach, may I be excused. I'd like to go to the doctors." Kataoka nodded. Esumi bowed in thanks, turning to run off. Kataoka's eyes followed after the girl as she ran away. A smirk formed. 'I have high expectations for her.'
Esumi was running toward the exit, but before she reached it her arm was grabbed. She jerked backward, losing her balance. Her head snapped around, to see who harshly yanked her arm back. "Ah? Ei-nii?"
