"Good luck, Lucy! Give it all you've got!" Razz says. I head sidestage for my reel. My jig went well, and same with my slip jig and slow hornpipe. But I'm really nervous for my reel since I'm doing the new step. After class last night I went over it a million times (or so it felt) but I still don't feel super confident in it. But I'm gonna go out there and dance it really well because I desperately need to win.

My competition and I line up onstage and I smile my biggest smile and stand in line looking super confident. I gotta make sure the judge knows that I'm here, and I'm here to win. I watch the other girls go before me and I watch them closely to see how I can dance better than them. Finally it's my turn. I step out, point my foot, and begin dancing. I'm dancing my first step really well! It's almost time for my second step. Here goes. You can do it Lucy! I begin the second step and I go over the next moves in my head, making sure I'm doing the right things. Before I know it, I finish dancing. I point and bow and head back in line. I'm feeling really confident now knowing that I've danced my very best! I walk offstage feeling ecstatic with the way I danced.

"Nice job, Lucy!" My mom and Razz exclaim. Razz high fives me before disappearing to watch another dancer. My mom and I take off my dress before heading to the cafeteria to eat some lunch.
"You looked really good out there, Luce." Mom says as I take a bite out of my hot dog. I make a face.
"What? You did!" Mom exclaims but I shake my head.
"The hot dog tastes like rubber. No maybe plastic." I say swallowing the hot dog in disgust. Mom laughs but it tastes nasty! But then again nobody said feis food is the best food!

When we finish eating we head back over to the results area to see if any of my results have been posted up on the wall. Sure enough they have been.
"How'd you do, Luce?" Mom asks anxiously. I scan the wall.
"Yes!" I cry pumping my fist. "I got first in my jig and my reel and second in my hornpipe and third in my slip jig!" I'm so excited because I got firsts in my Oireachtas dances! This really boosts my confidence! Now I'm feeling so excited for Oireachtas! I can't wait another three weeks till it's go time, I need it to be now! But I guess in the meantime I'll just go home and keep working harder and harder.
