how does the cat
love to watch the rat flounder
how does the rat
loath to watch the cat ponder
over the existence of the self
and the order
between cat and mouse
Why must thoughts
feelings
and desires
be deemed
N A T U R A L
and the same
yet different
for those other than the cat?
perhaps a days worth of work
in a years worth of commitment
shall allow for a scales balance; but perhaps not
for certain things are simply too
U N S T A B L E
to allow the healing of an injured throat
and so the cat will play
with the sweet rodents of today
and the mice will cry
while reciting repetitive statements deemed
U N N A T U R A L
what is food for one
is vile for another
what is beautiful to the cat
is ugly to the rodent
and in the end
the scale will forever be
U N B A L A N C E D.
