The fragility of life is incredibly frightening.
Death is something fabricated. It never seems real until it happens to you- death is something that sticks to TV, books, other people- but not you, personally.
No, not until you see it. Not until the ones you love die.
Or even a stranger; something you see, and witness. A man having a heart attack on the sidewalk. A car crash, a sudden quick, impulsive accident.Death is everywhere. And it is terrifying, and controlling, and rude. It stops for nobody; it is unforgiving, and has no sympathy.
No, the sympathy is up to the mourners to provide.Watching the people you love fade is one of the most painful things in the world. But it isn't real, remember?
It's only real on TV, and in books, and to other people.
It is never real to you until it is in the moment, for sure and right in front of you.
Even then, shock causes disbelief, and death in itself is still fabricated, and stalling, and entirely dismissed.
They don't deserve it. They never do.
The smiles and the giggles, and the love shared amongst us tells us this and that is the truth.
Our hearts are heavy for those we have lost,
who, still, in our minds
are not truly lost.amen.
