It is uncommon for balloons to stay afloat for long
they are forced open/blown apart and away though
every single day/the essence of the self
erupting within rubber/ stale air
eyes shattered/fingertips bruised
realize that it will never be/like the past
little red balloon/matte helium tanks
lost it's shine long ago
