Catherine
I finally reached Barklark's territory. I sprayed myself with a anti-werewolf spray, another one of the things that my parents gave me, which makes werewolves unable to smell me.
I shifted back to a human and jumped onto the trees, being careful not to make a sound. This was another thing my father taught me.
I still remembered me on a tree branch, swaying back and forth making the leaves rustle loudly while my father stood in front of me keeping his balance. I admired my father's skills, he always looked perfect.
Except the time he had to cook for me. I never let him near the stove again, he actually burnt water while trying to cook spaghetti and caused the fire alarms to go off.
Our neighbours called the fire department due the amount of smoke coming out of our house. I guess in his own way, he's amazing.
I leaped from tree to tree before reaching the pack house. I just do not get werewolves. Why do you want like hundreds of people living in a house? It just sounds gross to me.
Werecats would normally live in their houses, which is better because it is less cramped. I guess werecats like their space. However unlike werewolves, we do not like to get in other peoples business.
Staying out of trouble is what we like to do.
The seer have his own special room in the pack house, I need to sneak in the house. I covered my face with the hood from the hoodie I was wearing. This way no one would know that I do not belong here.
I walked in through the door quietly. There were still people awake, some were watching TV, reading or eating. They all seem like normal humans, but they're not. I walked briskly past them towards the other rooms before reaching a door which had a sign 'Seer Qadir'.
I have found the man. The one that caused all this.
I opened the door quietly and saw different sizes of skulls lining up to a table. A chill ran down my spine as I saw a skull that was labeled 'Werecat'
There was a old guy at the table, pounding what looks like medicine. It has a sharp scent to it.
"I have been expecting you." He said without even looking up. How did... Oh, he is a seer after all. I took out the silver knife, even though he did not look threatening. He looked up to reveal his grey eyes.
"Why did you do it?" I asked him, I narrowed my eyes trying to faze him. He sighed. "Things are not what it meant to be now. A foolish self I was before."
"What do you mean?"
"The prophecy is true, but people make mistakes sometimes." My blood ran cold. "Do you mean all this killing, all the innocent lives lost was because of a stupid misunderstanding?!?"
"The mysticals feared the werecats mysterious powers. These powers were blessed by the moon goddess, and are irregular with each timeline. Did you not hear about why the moon goddess did so?"
"No, why did she do that?" I furrowed my eyebrows. How did a visit to the seer turn out to be a storytelling session? But I really wanted to know more.
"A very long time ago, when there were no weres, the moon goddess lived in a beautiful palace with different animals. One of which was a cat. That cat's name was Zariah."
"My family's name?"
"Hush. Now this cat was anti-social. He hated the company of others, but didn't mind the moon goddesses. One day, while the moon goddess is away, the palace caught on fire. All the animals managed to leave the palace in time.
The cat, however knew how much the moon goddess loved her palace and ran back in. He soaked himself with water, the very thing he hated, and beat the fire using only his tail.
The moon goddess heard the news of the fire and quickly rushed back, only to find the badly burned cat lying on the ground. He was going to die. The moon goddess was overflowed with grief and wept, her magical tears healing the burns of the injured cat.
When the moon goddess created the first ever werewolf and gave him enhanced abilities, she also created the first ever werecat, and gave him special powers to protect his loved ones."
"You see, the werecats were given special powers to protect their loved ones, not to over power the rest. In the end, they were feared for their power to love."
"So what are you trying to tell me?"
"Things are not what they seem. Remember that Catherine, remember that."
