Catherine
I REALLY LOVE MEL.
AMAZING ASS WOLF I HAVE EVER MET, GURANTEED SHES THE ONLY WOLF FRIEND I EVER HAD BUT YEA
She made me laugh more than I have ever had in my life. We had common interests like books and basically everything.
Her beautiful blonde hair flowed down, a little bit longer than shoulder length and her green eyes never cease to amaze me. I could stare at them for hours and never get bored.
Dylan is lucky to have her.
But she ain't lucky to have Dylan.
Rip.
Suddenly, a bell rang. You know those kinds of old bells, like wedding bells I guess, "That is the signal for us to go outside," Melissa whispered to me.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "For what?"
"Its time for us to run."
*****
"You don't need to be afraid, you can stay here and watch others run instead," said Mrs Williams as she stepped into the moonlight and merged with the rest of the werewolves.
The run was basically when weres run under the a full moon moonlight. This is important as it bonds the weres to each other, as well as gives a sense of loyalty to the moon goddess.
I looked around the chattering werewolves, whose shapes and faces reflected from the moonlight. Tonight was a full moon and this was the time where werewolves turn to their instincts and shift.
Werecats included.
I was careful to stay in the shade of a shelter, avoiding any moonlight. It is disrespectful to the moon goddess but what choice do I have? Changing into a cat in the midst of wolves isn't a good idea.
However its a way to die faster and I don't really want that now.
Even under this shade, the urge to change into a cat was strong and I fiercely fought against it. This is going to be one tough night, unless I find an opportunity to get away and shift.
I sighed. At least at the orphanage I could get away and have a peaceful run under the full moon. I fear that that would be the last run under the moonlight I would ever have.
Talking about shifting, what happened to Lea? She isn't still sulking is she? I called out to her in my head. But I didn't harm the seer so why is she so angry?
"You don't understand, it's the thought of harming others would harm yourself back!" Lea exclaimed.
"Lea! You're back, I really missed you!" I smiled, happy to have familiar company back.
"I missed your quirkiness too... Wait, don't change the subject!" She exclaimed.
"Yeah, yeah, bla, bla. Same thing, same stuff. Have you at least seen Mel? I love her."
"Oh so you have found a new replacement for me huh!" Lea grumbled.
I smiled."Of course not! You can never be replaced!"
Finally, the run for the werewolves started with another ring of the bell. Melissa started to shift, an soft cracking could be heard. I winced even though knowing that this doesn't hurt at all. Just slight discomfort.
But hearing the noise of bone cracking really gives me shivers.
Fur burst out of her skin and I gasped at the creature in front of me. She was beautiful. Brown-honey fur with dark brown splotches. Before I knew it, my hand raised up to touch her beautiful pelt.
She nudged against my palm and I caressed her soft, velvety fur. The howls of the alpha started and she howled along, with the rest of the pack.
I felt rumbling while my hand was still on her pelt, reminding me of my mother's purring.
Flashback
"Momma! Please, please, pweety please turn into a cat again!" I grabbed my mother from behind. She laughed and started to shift. I grabbed onto tufts of caramel fur. "Go! Go! Run! Run!"I giggled as wind rushed passed me and finally tired, my mother stopped. She layed down onto the grass and I gently stroked her. She started to purr and I laughed, my hand feeling the rumbles, a strange feeling I have never experienced before.
The heat suddenly left my palm and I looked at the sillouttes of the running werewolves, leaving me alone.
Seeing my chance, I shifted into a cat and ran off to another direction. It felt good as the moonlight shone against my pure white fur, warmth growing from within me. Running under a full moonlight was amazing, it just cannot be described with words.
Not before long I stopped at a lake and drank some cool and refreshing water.
I stopped lapping up the water and stared at my reflection. A white cat stared back as the happy expression faded away and replaced with a sad one.
What's the difference? I thought, thinking back at Melissa's wolf and comparing it to my cat. Why are we fighting against each other? I turned back and found a girl staring back. We both came from the moon goddess, but what makes us so different?
Shape? Fur? Form? Power?
What power do we truly have? We can't even defend ourselves to save our loved ones.
But, why do we still insist on fighting each other?
What makes us so different?
