He double, triple, quadrupled checked his room. Luggages? Check. Passport? Check. Laptop, notebooks, briefcase, iPad,
Wait a second-
"HIMAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Two seconds later the midnight haired whiskered cheek sister of his opened his bedroom door, iPad in her hand with a smile on her face, "Here you go. And don't worry I backed up all of my drawings on my laptop so you have all your storage back."
Boruto smiled at his little sister, taking back his device but also moving closer for a hug, "I'm gonna miss you."
"I'm gonna miss you too," Boruto scoffed at her response as their embrace broke, "Really? You aren't jumping for joy that your crazy older brother is finally gonna leave you alone for a summer?"
With a roll of her blue eyes, Himawari gave him a knowing shoulder nudge, "I would say you're more like psychotic but that doesn't mean I'm happy you're leaving. It's gonna be weird not having you around..."
He placed two hands on the shoulders of her yellow t shirt, looking his baby sister dead in the eyes while speaking seriously.
"You'll call me first the second anything happens."
She sighed in annoyance, "Boru-"
"You'll call me first. Not Dad. Not Mom. Me. I couldn't handle it if something happened to you." Himawari rested her eyes for a moment and gave in. She was grateful to have a protective older brother, even though she had plenty of people who looked out for her, none of them cared for her the way Boruto did.
"You'll call me too...right?" He erased the insecure tones in her voice but hugging her again, this time placing a sweet kiss on top of her midnight scalp while mumbling. "I promise."
Once their hug ended, suddenly Himawari squealed and bolted out of Boruto's bedroom screaming "Wait we have to take a photo!!!"
"Ugh just when I thought you'd forget."
"I'd never forget," she hurried back into his bedroom with the device in her hand, "we have to document the moment Boru!" She leaned in, arms stretched out so the digital camera lens captured the two of them in perfect frame, ecstatically Himawari said, "Say cheese!"
Boruto gave his best smile, "Lettuce!"
The click sounded off with a flash, afterward Himawari turned the camera around and clicked a few buttons, showing her brother the picture of the two of them. At that exact moment, his heart warmed.
This would be the first time Himawari and Boruto were separated for a long period of time.
At twenty three years old, Boruto Uzumaki mastered closeness and distance. His parents allowed him proper independence and autonomy, and even though he often raved about it, behind all that gloat, Boruto was a softie for his family, especially his baby sister.
With Himawari's twentieth birthday around the corner, so many panicked thoughts consumed his mind. Fake id's. Boys. Late night outings. Boys. A summer where he couldn't supervise her to make sure her kind heart wasn't being taken advantage of.
And then that horrible reoccurring thought of his sister around boys came back.
She was right, he was a bit psychotic. But he was the same way with other men around his mom. Boruto got every last drop of the possessive trait from his dad. When Boruto was a child, he even flipped off ladies who would flirt with his father when mommy wasn't around.
