Chapter two- The Trip Back Home

Link's POV:

The past few weeks have seemed to have flown by because now Christy and I are attempting to wake the children up to get them ready for our flight to North Carolina. Christy goes to wake Lando up and I attempt to wake Lincoln up, I sigh as I gently nudge him multiple times but he still shows no sign of consciousness, Christy is always much better at this task.

"Come on buddy I need you to wake up," I say softly and Lincoln lets out a light growl, "we are flying to North Carolina today and we all have to get ready."

"Okay," Lincoln sighs, exaggerating on the y, as he lifts half of his body up from his bed.

"Thank you buddy. I'm going to wake your sister up now but mom left an outfit for you at the end of your bed so go ahead and put that on," I inform my son as I exit his room and walk into Lily's.

I am blinded by light as I walk into Lily's room, "well good morning to you," I say to my daughter who is already fully dressed and ready to leave.

"Good morning! I'm so excited to leave!" Lily chirps.

I chuckle at her excited attitude, "I can tell!"

I walk out of Lily's bedroom and go down to the kitchen, I quickly throw together three bowls of cereal and then call for everyone to come get breakfast. As Lily, Lincoln, and Lando all come down the stairs I double check that they are all properly dressed and have packed everything they need, once I am sure they are prepared I begin to take the suitcases to the front door.

Before I know it an hour has passed and we are now in the car on the way to the airport, we are on the road for about five minutes before someone speaks.

"Daddy?" Lando asks me from his car seat.

"Yea?" I respond, looking back at him once I stop at a stop sign.

"Can we please listen to kidz bop?" My son pleads, the rest of the car groans in unison.

"If we must... Christy do you mind turning it on?" I glance over at my wife and see that she has the same expression on her face, dread.

Reluctantly my wife slides the kidz bop CD into the car, this is what we listen to for the next forty five minutes.

Aside from the horrible music the trip to the airport was painless, the bonus of leaving your house at two in the morning is that there is no traffic to deal with. We are now waking the children up once again, luckily they wake up faster than they did earlier.

"Okay so after we go through security and everything we will have to wait about thirty more minutes until they board?" I ask my wife who has the schedule planned down to the minute.

"Correct. We take off at four and we will be in North Carolina by two in the afternoon." She tells me as she begins to walk inside.

"Now boarding for flight 4589 at terminal F." The loud speaker booms overhead signaling for us to board our flight.

"Okay guys grab your mother's hand or grab mine." I make sure that my children listened to me before I began to board the plane.

I sigh in relief as I board the plane and see that the aisles have four seats per row, "perfect," I say to myself as I find our seats and settle in.

"Can we switch seats Daddy? I really want the window seat!" Lily begs me once we all sit down.

"Sure," I carefully trade seats with my daughter, I am now sitting beside Christy.

After a few minutes have passed the flight attendants finally board and go over the safety tips with us, after this procedure is over I grab my wife's hand and close my eyes... when I wake up I will be home.

I wake up to the announcement that our flight will be landing shortly, I take this time to stretch and look outside the window, I smile as I see my home state beneath us.

"Hey dad!" Lily greets once she notices that I am awake, she is super excited to see the family again.

"Hey sweetie! How was the flight?" I ask her, this is only her third or fourth time flying and I wanted to make sure that she was comfortable in a plane.

"It was good but I'm excited to land." She says as she looks out the window again, I nod in agreement.

Luckily the flight went smoothly and we landed with no problems, once we got off the plane we checked into our hotel and spent the rest of the day exploring. We are now in bed and everyone is excited for tomorrow but little do we know what is about to happen.
