Egderp 26

(Timeline update: let's say you and John have already been dating from June which was the start of the schoolyear until now, August. And the accident of your father happened a few days ago. So it's now August 6, two days before your birthday.)

Reader's POV

You arrived at the restaurant in an amount of minutes and happily walked in, Karkat trailing behind.

"C'mon karkles, I wanna eat!!" You whined like the little child you are.

He shook his head and looked away, you could see he was hiding a small smile and said, "Alright, just shut the fuck up. I'll order."

You smiled wide and said, "I'll go look for a table then." And walked over to a table near the window, you always thought it was relaxing to sit there.

"Ahh.." You sighed peacefully as you plopped on the chair. You turned your head to look out the window, seeing the beautiful sight from your view. The angle seemed so perfect, you decided to take a picture.

As you brought out your phone, you opemed the camera app and positioned yourself in where you wanted the camera to capture. After you clicked, Karkat came back just in time as you kept your phone. You'll check the picture later.

"Hey." Karkat said in his usual tone.

"Yo." You replied as Karkat placed the tray of food on the table, occupying the seat in front of you.

You immediately smiled at this wonderful sight, the smell was delightful and it made your tastebuds crave the food even more. Your stomach growled.

"Eat up." Karkat said after hearing the dreadful whale noises your stomach was making.

"Gladly." You replied, grabbing the utensils and started digging in.

//Time Skip//

"Ahhh!" You beamed, stretching out your arms as you and Karkat walk out of the place.

"What now?" You then asked and Karkat thought for a while.

"How about a trip to the mall..?" Karkat asked, scratching the back of his neck and averting your gaze as a tint of candy red dusted his cheeks

You smiled at this and said, "Why not?"

His eyes widened and his head whipped around to look at you, "L-let's go then." He stuttered.

Karkat's POV

I hailed a taxi, and we're now on the way to Festival Mall. I'm going to disobey fucking Egbert and do what I want.

The taxi soon stopped in the drop off of the mall and I payed and we both got out. She stretched a bit and we started walking inside.

I decided to make a move, so I held her hand, hesitating a bit. She kinda flinched? I can't tell but she didn't let go, she held my hand as well.

"This is not.. weird? To you?" I asked quietly. She just sweetly smiled at me and said, "We're bestfriends right? It's not weird."

Bestfriends..

Oh well, I guess I 'leveled up' from friend to bestfriend. Still in the fucking friendzone tho, shit.

But I guess this will have to do for now. I led her to X-Site, an arcade area and a the place with an indoor roller coaster. (And im not lying there really is something like that here in the philippines. Shoutout to all my filipino readers!!)

I bought tickets and we lined up for the coaster. We sat at the very back, the 10th seat. We decided to do a challenge wherein she'd video us and see who screams first.

Pft, I could do this without even fucking letting out a yelp.

The coaster started and we were all buckled up, she started videoing as the ride went along it's tracks.

Up, up, up, the coaster went on the railing which was supposed to be the thrilling part. We had a few seconds of silence and,

WOOSH.

The roller coaster zipped down the ramp quickly and along the rest of the upcoming rails. In the middle of the ride, I stopped the video and leaned in to kiss her for a split second then the ride zoomed back to the starting point, still moving for the last round.

Her expression was surprised, and she looked at me. Her wide eyes staring into my flustered ones. "I'm sorry I just wanted to feel the feeling of it aga-" I explained and she cut me off with a kiss on the cheek, just as we were on the top of the ramp.

I was baffled, and she just smiled as the roller coaster swooped down the ramp like railing, she raised her hands and let the wind flow through her hair.

When the ride ended, we got off and started walking to the River Park and stayed by the bridge. It was about sunset now and the view was fantastic.

Of course, (F/n) brought out her phone and snapped a picture of the wonderful sight. "Isn't it beautiful?" (F/n) asks out of nowhere as she stares at the sunset setting on the horizon.

I couldn't help but stare at her amazed expression, until she asked me that question, I answered, "What? Which?"

She looked at me, her eyes gleaming from the light of the sunset, which is now setting, seeing the stars starting to appear in the sky.

She smiled and placed a hand on my shoulder, "Your future is beautiful, Karkat. I can tell, so stop being such a grumpykat." She giggled and hugged me.

I slowly hugged back and formed a soft smile, "Thanks, (F/n)."

Without releasing from the hug she said, "Anytime, Cutekat."

Then the fountain suddenly opens and lights turn on from the fountain.

My face warmed up at the nickname and I gripped tighter on the hug.

We had comfortable silence for a moment, still in the hug, then (F/n) suddenly spoke.

"Can we go get dinner?" She said, nuzzling her face into my chest then pulling away from the hug, her arms on my chest and mine wrapped around her waist.

I giggled a bit and kissed her on the forehead. "Yeah sure."

sorry i havent updated for a long while, tests are here and i was resting from the party i had during saturday since it was my bday. fluff for you n karkles hurrah! hope you enjoyed, i fixed the timeline since its kinda messy.
