Silent Treatment

(Iris's pov)
I woke up and got ready for school. I took a quick shower then I straightened my hair. I threw on a maroon/burgundy sweater with some jeans and boots with a scarf (outfit in the picture). I applied some mascara because that's pretty much all I wear, brushed my teeth and ran downstairs to grab a yogurt. I smiled at last night. I wonder if today was gonna be awkward? Would Ethan act the same after he kissed me? What was I gonna do about Grayson? He didn't seem all that bad and I don't know what I'm gonna tell him. I'd figure it out along the way. But then again I didn't have to tell him anything right? We weren't a thing and he didn't care about me just like I didn't care about him. I shook my head then got in my car and got to school and parked beside what happened to be Ethan and Grayson's car. We all got out at the same time. Ethan came over and gave me a hug and Grayson glanced at us and walked away with his jaw clenched. What was that about?

"Good morning beautiful." Ethan broke my train of thought. "Goodmorning cutie," I said smiling at him. He was still smiling but looked kind of serious. "Is something wrong?" I asked him. "No," he smiled," just...I know it's really soon since I just met you yesterday and all, but I really like you Iris. I don't wanna rush things so don't worry I'm not trying to make anything official, but until I find the perfect way to, I just wanna let you know that I'm yours, and I'd be really happy if you were mine and only mine." A grin spread across my face. "Thanks Ethan. I really like you too. And don't worry I'm yours too." I smiled with him. He stared at me like I was a prize and then grabbed my hand and we walked into school.

The day went by fast. Grayson ignored me oddly, at lunch I sat with Katrina and Ethan and cheer was perfect. Again everyone warned me about Grayson, and again everyone stared at me when I was with Ethan. I was really confused on why Grayson wasn't talking to me but I just ignored it, I had Ethan and that's all that mattered.

(1 month later)
It was lunch time and everything was going great. Grayson still wasn't speaking to me but he started eating lunch with us again. Ethan and I were doing great together. We got lunch and he asked me to get him a soda from the vending machine so I got up and went to get him one. When I got back to the table the whole football team except for Grayson was holding a banner that said 'will you be my girlfriend Iris?' I smiled and dropped the soda. "Yes." I whispered in his ear smiling ear to ear while he was holding me. Just as I said yes I saw Grayson spit out his food and leave. I don't know what happened but besides whatever was wrong with him, lunch was perfect.

Grayson wasn't in 4th or 5th period but he showed up at the end 6th for math. "Okay class so for our next project I'd like you guys to partner up with whoevers sitting next to you and it'll be due on Monday." Our teacher said just as we were packing up our stuff. I looked over at Grayson. "So..when do you wanna do the project Gray?" I asked him nervously. "I don't care. You can come over today if you want, unless you have something with Ethan." He replied in a mocking tone. I furrowed my eyebrows but just nodded my head. That was the first time Grayson has spoke to me in a month. I don't know if I did something wrong or something but I didn't bother to ask.

After school I went over to Grayson and Ethan's house. Ethan opened the door and I smiled. He smiled back then kissed me and yelled," Grayson, Iris is here!" Grayson yelled back "just send her to my room!" Ethan let me in and said," his room is upstairs, last room at the end of the left hall. Don't let him keep you too long I wanna spend time with you." He said and I smiled. I went up to Grayson's room and walked in on him putting on a shirt. He handed me a book and I sat on his bed. He sat down next to me and just started scribbling things down on a paper. "Don't you think we should do this together?" I asked him. He looked at me seriously first then his look turned soft when he locked eyes with me. "It doesn't matter Iris. It really doesn't. You can do a half by yourself and I'll do half simple as that." He said. "Okay? I guess. Gray what's wrong. You've been avoiding me. In the beginning id probably be happy about that but now I'm just concerned. Your not just ignoring me your ignoring everyone. Did I do something wrong?" I told him. "It doesn't matter what's wrong. I'm fine. I just wanna get this stupid project done." He slightly shouted. "Okay. But seriously you don't have to act this way. Some thing is obviously bothering you and I don't know what it is but...whenever you wanna talk about it, I'm here." I said as I leaned in to hug him. First he just sat there while I hugged him but then he hugged me back and dug his chin into my neck. Just as I pulled away and got up Ethan opened the door. "Done yet baby?" He asked. "Yeah I was just heading down," I smiled nervously grabbing my stuff. I looked back at Grayson but he was looking down. I went over to my house and saw a note on the fridge when I got inside. 'Went to an important business trip be back in three months. Sorry honey we love you we'll try coming every weekend. We left money in the cookie jar. Be safe love you! -mom and dad' "great." I said to myself rolling my eyes.

(Grayson's pov)
What is wrong with me? I haven't talked to any girls or done anything. I can't get Iris out of my head. But I can't talk to her. Or be around her knowing that I can't have her. There was nothing I could do to get her and nothing I could do about the pain I was feeling inside. Pain I've never felt before. I just had to find distractions and get some sleep. If anything was gonna happen fate would ensure it. I know that one day I'm gonna get a chance with her. But who cares it's just some silly crush, it had to be.
