Chapter 5 A Plan Leads to War

The morning brings a great meeting, with the heads of the army, all are there to hear of this new weapon; and plans to end the advancement of the invading forces. The first business was to introduce Sir Androw, with his diagram on a piece of leather. This diagram is of a weapon for throwing boulders great distances; which I had taken from the Welsh invaders. “This new weapon should be made in great numbers to assist the army's of the king” Androw stated to all the men in attendance, passing around the diagram for all to see.

The next order of business was the dragon speaking of me, something that shocked many in attendance. Only rumors had seeped out, that there really was a dragon that would help fight for the kingdom but till now did it really sink in to be true.

I was introduced as the Princes Karima of Sheams, and the handler of the dragon. I would be there to oversee all that was said, and what would be needed of my dragon, that she would not be asked to go against her beliefs.

There were many men there against my presence, till it was told that without me there was no dragon to assist them. The grumbling went on for so long that I started walking toward the door, when in a loud voice I heard the king yell! “How dare you leave this room without my permission!” Trembling in fear I turned and return to my seat, red in the face, I go to speak but am cut off.

“This person was personally asked to be here by me! How dare you wish her be gone! She has brought us a wondrous weapon to use against our enemy; and here you choose to insult her! From this day forward there will be no more talk of this, the lady Karima will stay and help; and we will listen to what she has to say. It is due to Sir Androw; Lady Karima; and Kar, that a victory, and a new weapon were brought to us; and our border was set to the western shores. This matter is settled.” The king roared out so loud that the wall echoed with every word he spoke, not one sing man there dared to go against him when he was this mad, for they all knew if they did it was their head they would loose.

I was shocked to say the least, King AEthelstan of Wessex and the kingdom of England sticking up for me! “May the gods that be!” I said under my breath. Looking on at the maps that lay on the table before me, I see that Androw has laid our diagram of the weapon I swiped during our battle.

Androw was getting back to explaining about how it was built; how it worked; and how it could be made to throw other things like fire, at the enemy making everyone in the room grow quiet with interest. I was so impressed with him, this is my little brother in his environment and he was gleaming.

I on the other hand was looking at bits and pieces of the maps that lay in front of me that I could read, there were encampment and markings for both battle lines, with battles won and lost, this was such a detailed map of all of the kingdoms of the lands. As Androw moved his diagram from the map, I looked at the hidden parts of that part of the map; it showed our homeland and points north. Things I have never seen before having never left the village of Shayfield.

“The reason I have call this meeting is to hear what say you of how the battles goes? What be our weaknesses and where do we need to reinforce them? How many losses did we receive, how much advancement have we gained? Let's speak up one by one start you from the north.” the King demanded.

There were reports coming in from all commander in charge, some from second in command who were now newly in command. The eastern front has taken a severe hit, with many men lost the army is in dire need of reinforcement, the two commanders have been killed ,and the third in command is here in their place. The king makes him a knight, and the new commander of this army. A promotion he did not expect knighted and promoted.
