Chapter 11 The Affairs of The Heart

The night after my talk with Androw, he did talk to Violet, and it went well for the rest of the night. I went to sleep with a wall up so I could block out what they were talking about and so I could sleep for the first time in three days. I woke up to the sounds of a horn blowing from the west it was warning to the troupes that trouble was about to come. And sure enough Kar leaped into action with me running out the back with Kar screaming wildly in the air. Violet came a running and chanting around me calming me down once again. With a light touch on Kar's head I dropped to the ground at her feet. That was too close, for me I could have killed off both sides and not realized it, if it had not been for Violets quick thinking this would not have ended good. Androw and Violet carried me into the tent and covered me up, they brought me tea and a bit of bread to eat. Once I was feeling better they both relaxed then I told them I had work to do so Androw turned so I could walk out and Kar could transform. My shield was put on then up and away I went to see what was going on.

Androw and Violet were in the tent alone talking the day away, getting better acquainted while Androw healed. Androw took to heart what he was told last night, and decided to give Violet a chance to win his heart. They laughed she cried, she told him all thing about her life, though it was a hard life she was informed, that from the other day back in Shayfield on she was to be considered a princess just as The Lady Karima. Androw agreed with The Lady Karima that the King brought Lady Violet into the family as a princess of the realm, as such she would forever be considered a true princess, as such could court Sir Androw if she would have him? Violet sighed a sigh of relief.

“KAR KAR can you hear me? It's Androw!” Androw Shouted into my head.

“Yes Androw is there a problem?” Kar asked back a little perturbed.

“No there is no problem, you were right about last night, how is the battle going?” Androw asked sounding kind of worried.

“I told you so did I not? We are holding our own right now, Brother Arthur is here with reinforcements and we have beat them back into the woods and beyond. I will be back soon with him shortly. How is your side healing?” Kar asked.

“I didn't know Sir Arthur was here! My side is doing well just a little sore, you can look at it when you get back. Bring Arthur with you please.”

“I will, see you soon, I will bring him with me when I do.”

Just as I though Violet and Androw are a couple, good for them, now to find Arthur and get back to camp with something to eat. There he is I will just drop down and pick him up and have him kill a dear or some other animal for us all to eat.

Kar drops out of the sky to Arthur, he climes upon her back then they head out toward the forest to the east and once there Kar drops down snatching a boar with her claws.

Heading back to the tent in the clearing dropping it by the fire Arthur climbs off and Kar walks off behind the tent calling Violet to bring her some cloths. Once Karima changes and is all laced up they walk out front to where Androw and Arthur are talking and preparing the boar for the fire to cook it. “We are hungry why isn't the food ready?” Jokingly I said with a laugh. Androw runs up to Violet and grabbing her around the waste swings her around I jump out of their way and fall on my butt laughing. “This is going to be so interesting for sure.” I say laughing. Arthur is just a looking at them carrying on and shaking his head in disbelief.

“Arthur come help me with this boar it looks like they are too busy to help out, and I want to talk to you. Would you take off that armor please it isn't needed here, you can put it in the tent over there.” I tell my brother. I settle down to turn the spit and place a pot on the fire iron to boil so I can make some stew and also water for tea. For a princess I have become quite the good cook and herbalist. I call everyone to the fire to eat and have my brothers remove the spit from the fire so we can cut up the meat to serve, I take some and add it to the carrots and taters, and herbs, salt and other ingredients in the pot for another meal. Then I make a large pot of camomile tea for everyone to drink and add Milk Thistle to Androw's for his pain. I tell him “I want to remove the stitches from you side after we eat and check it out for an infection.

That night we all retire to the tent boys on one side girls the other. We have a partition set up for privacy so we can change and be comfortable with others in the same room as us. It is not like being at home but it is safe for one and all. We have two guards posted at our tent one out front one out back.

The morning comes and with it brings a nice cooked meal from last night, I had prepared from left over meats and vegetables. I put more wood on the fire to heat it up then put more water in the pots for tea. I sent the guards on their way, their night duties were done, With water boiling and tea made, I went in to wake my brothers and Violet up to eat.

This is going to be a good day I can feel it in my bones, tonight we will finish up here. I have an idea for a swift ending if they will listen to me. I tell Androw. “we just have to get behind them with a few dozen men and with Kar, drive them forward into an ambush then finish them off once and for all.” He likes my new plan saying “That just might work if we can get behind them.

Androw calls a meeting that morning telling the plan and all agree they put it into action with Kar leading the way. This time Arthur is upon Kar's back when the attack begins with a scream from above to announce the start. By the end of the day the plan had worked the few that were left had run off fleeing for their life. The cleanup was all that was left. Arthur took to helping to round up his men then they all buried the dead in a common grave on the outskirts of town.

When all was done Androw returned to the clearing for food rest and a good nights sleep. The Lady Karima and The Lady Violet were there tending the fire and food ready for all that came hungry to eat.

“This has been a long night, I have given my men the next sun off we leave back to Shayfield come the following sun. Arthur informs us of.

“We will leave the same time, and fly up ahead so that Androw can get to our healers, I will let father know that you are on your way so they can expect you in a few suns with a banquet for the men.” I let Arthur know she he can let his men in on the good news.

The next morning we spent packing all we could, so they could bring back what we could not carry. When the morning came I walked out back and Violet told Androw to come saddle me up I was ready to go, back to Shayfield to a hot tub full of herbs, a good meal, and a long sleep yes I was ready for that. “Let's Go” I said anxious to be off.
