Chapter 12 The Winter Our Love Grows

The trip back home was a slow one, with Kar taking her time so Androw wouldn't damage his healing side. The whole trip was interesting to say the least with, Androw and Violet's talking and giggling all the way. It was four suns and three night fall before we arrived at the castle's tower, after they unpacked me and Violet assisted me with my dress I headed to the nearest guard for an escort to the king.

After formality’s, I ran over to daddy giving him a big hug, then I proceeded to inform him of the return of his army and Sir Arthur. He said “That a banquet would be readied for their return in the village in two suns when they arrive.” I was so happy to hear that.

I said my good byes then headed to my room, my handmaiden was already there filling my tub for a nice hot bath for me. I quickly shed my dress and under things and slipped under the water to soak the pains and dirt away. I had her scrub my back hard then I soaked till the water went cold climbing out to dry off I felt so invigorated thanks to all the herbs. I was helped into a sleeping gown then off to bed for a long deserved sleep. I threw up a wall in my mind one big enough to block out everyone so I could sleep in peace, I didn't want to be bothered till morning for any reason I needed sleep.

Waking up two suns later dropping the wall within my mind. I reach out for Violet to find she is off in the village with Androw, I get a. “Welcome back sleepy head in unison” Laughing I respond with. “What I was tired” Then they tell me. “I slept for two suns” I bolt up in shock and look out my window, the sun is just partly up so It is early then I call for my handmaiden for help. “I will see you both in about an hour or so in the dining room.” I tell them both.

My handmaiden enter my room and I ask. May I have a hot bath, and some camomile tea, “Right away My Lady” Off she goes with my request and I sit to brush my long hair, looking into my reflection of the mirror at my sea green eyes with flecks of gold, I look back on my life and wonder, how would my life had been different had I not cast that spell, and just lived my life as a simple Princess Karima? A knock upon the door I respond with. “ENTER” My handmaiden enters with some help, tea for me fresh water for my tub with my favorite herbs scent the water just for me.

I am dressed after my bath then I head down for something to eat, I am famished, sleeping two days will do that to you. I meet Androw, Violet, Arthur and a few of the servants in the great hall awaiting me. “Welcome back Arthur I pray your trip was uneventful all are safe, how many men were lost in the battle?” I asked my brother. He tells me. “I hear we lost just a few men” But a few is too many I am upset with this information but hear we will be having a ceremony for them tonight in the Village square in their honor now that I am awake.

So much has happened since I have slept, but after all Kar and I have been through a lot, we needed the down time to re-energize.

The ceremony was very nice that night the whole village was there, we honored the men with a huge bond fire and dancing, drums played to ward off evil spirits and for a finally Kar landed with a scream. I was majestic in my entry, wings a flapping head up high, I bowed in respect, then with a loud scream ,I flapped my wings and headed back toward the castle top.
