Chapter 8 An Audience with the King

The night of our arrival there was an armed guard just within the door, so when we walked into the castle walls, we were taken forcefully down to the dungeons without undue accords.

I started screaming within Androw's head. “What the hell do they think they are doing? I can kill them if you want me to?” I screamed in in Androw's head so only he could hear me. He said “Do nothing yet, they can't keep us in these castle cells, just do as they tell us till we find out what the hell is going on.” I let out a sigh and complied.

So with a bit of a struggle, the three of us were led, down many corridors, to a winding staircase, that led beneath the castle. Once in there they placed Sir Androw in one cell, then Violet and I another, locking us in and leaving without a word, we sat down on the, cold hard damp cell floor.

I called out to Androw and ask him “What have we done?” He thought back and said. “It could only be they must have sent back word of Kar's refusal to fight till the final day. We will just get some rest as best we can, then see what they charges us with, and if it is this then we will just escape and head back home.”

The next morning we were brought before the king, there were all types of men there including the one commanding officer we were sent to help. So we were right it was him the reason behind our terrible stay, we will find out what he has to say for himself, then decide what to do.

The king states “Formal charges are being brought upon us, for the killing of twenty men, when we were ordered to defend the encampment, and refused!”

“How say you to these charges?” The King asks.

Sir Androw rises. “If it pleases you may I speak?” “Yes it is so we were told to send out Kar to destroy the ships in the harbor while they slept, and as you so stated we had to refuse! Now we did not choose to do this lightly, for as you were first informed in the beginning, that for Kar to fight there must be an injustice done upon the army's of the crown which at that time there were none. For there was not a lick of blood dropped in battle to that day, and that goes against all that Kar stands for. So your Royal Magistracy we did nothing wrong, in the end, the first drop of blood that fell, Kar went into action with such ferocity, that she took out four ships by herself, in the end the battle raged on for just a few short hours, for once the invading army saw her, their blood turned cold as ice and we stopped them. You now have 4 good ships to your forces one or two more can be saved, so in all it was a complete success with Kar's help and this treatment of us is unwarranted.” Sir Androw stated with shear determination.

“What say you commander? Are theses accusations correct? Did they happen as stated? If so then we owe these fine soldiers our praise!” The King asked his commander as the commander shrunk into his seat trying not to be seen by his men or those around him.

Once the meeting was over, and all was said and done, the King apologized then put on a fest for us one and all. Now I for one was still not very happy, and Violet could tell, so while in my room changing we had a long talk. I told her “I am home sick, and I don't like the king much, this whole part with the dungeon stay, had me up in arms and I could feel it was affecting Kar very badly. I feel we should just go back to Shayfield for a while if you are up to it what do you say Violet?”
