I could see Ember Island just up ahead. I flew, still, at a leisurely pace, otherwise the others would most likely get attacked without Balthazar and I.
"Okay, they key here is to be friendly even if you are petrified. I assure all of you that you will come to no harm, but if you attack, I cannot save you." I explained as I sat backwards on Balthazar.
"Question, will there be any Lady Hookfang's?" Snotlout asked.
"There are, but to keep your dragon safe I would advise you to stay away from them. If Hookfang goes for a female then he will have to compete with other males that could potentially kill him."I explained. The group looked at me like I was crazy, but I only shrugged. I turned back around and I found we were already descending. Balthazar landed near the mother and father duo's cave.
I slid off of Balthazar and ran to the cave. I looked in to see the mother with a small baby next to her. I smiled and greeted the large Monstrous Nightmare. She came to my hand and allowed me to pet her. The baby growled at me, but the mother put a wing over him and that quieted him. I walked over and sat on my knees with my hand out. He eagerly came forward and tackled me a fit of licks. I nearly missed a fireball. Babies still need time to control those.
"It is nice to meet you too." I heard a fire bomb the ground outside and instantly jumped up and ran outside. The mother following me with the baby. I got outside and climbed on Balthazar. I could see the group of friends cowering behind their dragons.
"Hold on!" I yelled up. The father flew to Balthazar and I half way in the air and rubbed his nose against me in welcome.
"These are my friends. We bring no harm, do not worry." I put my hands up and out to show I wasn't going to harm them. He landed next to the mother, now calm while our dragons met.
"How did you befriend them without being their rider?" Astrid asked me.
"You do not need to be a rider to be a friend. You see if you are friendly and prove no harm then no harm will come to you. As I am sure you are aware of, dragons are friendly and only attack when given a reason too, so if you give them no reason then what are they to do?" I explained to them.
"When this little guy was just an egg," I began to tell them the story as the small Monstrous Nightmare curled up by me. "A large Monstrous Nightmare tried to dominate his father and take the egg and crush it. You see when a larger Monstrous Nightmare wants someone else mate, but they already have an egg, they dominate over the other and crush the egg." I further explained.
"When Balthazar and I saw this happening we dominated over him. It is unethical, but now they won't be retaliated against." I shrugged.
"Wow, you're perfect." Snotlout smiled.
"Thanks?" I half questioned.
"She is willing to teach us what she knows." Hiccup said excitedly.
"What does she know that we don't?" Astrid asked Hiccup.
"Look at her, we are standing on an Island solely inhabited by Monstrous Nightmares'. If we came here by ourselves, we would have a small war." Hiccup said excitedly.
"Hiccup, you are going to be chief soon. You need to focus on other things." Astrid said to him.
"Astrid, I can't be a good chief if I don't know everything about dragons. What happens if we are attacked by dragons and the only way to save us is in her head." Hiccup pointed at me. I backed up slightly while watching their lover's quarrel happen.
"Don't worry, this happens a lot." Ruffnut whispered to me on my left.
"Yeah, we usually just slowly fly away." Tuffnut said to my right.
