Balthazar and I are a duo. We both were abandoned from when we were extremely little, me for having white hair and freaky eyes, him for being the runt of the litter. Now, I take pride in my appearance and he is possibly the biggest, fastest, and smartest Skrill dragon known.

A Skrill dragon absorbs lightning to recharge it's 'fire bolts', but Skrills have lightning bolts compared to other dragons. They can shoot lightning for a few miles until the shot final runs out. This gives them long distance accuracy, but also close up damage.

Other ways to recharge is taking the static from the clouds. This is why Balthazar and I stay in the clouds. He can see fine in the clouds because it is an adaptation for Skrill dragons; however, it took me plenty of years to get use to it.

Balthazar has thick skin and hard metallic spikes lining his back and pointing from his head. To keep me safe, I sit just behind his head. That way he isn't immobilized and I am safe.

In the air and in any foreign place, I wear my white fur cape with a animal skull keeping my hood secure on my head. My sword is always on my hips for when I need it which happens to often.

"Balthazar, look." I spoke quietly as I pointed down below the clouds. A Scaldron was trapped in a fishing net and had multiple cuts from struggling. Balthazar flew down toward the wounded dragon. The closer we got the more agitated she seemed to get. I put my hands up to show I wasn't going to hurt her. I stood up as Balthazar put his arm out. I walked toward the large creature with my arms still up.

"We are only here to help." I stated calmly. I walked toward her I placed my hand on the edge of her mouth. She pulled back slightly, but when I showed no attacking signs she placed her mouth back. I began cutting the net. I walked on the Scaldron's nose and continued cutting the net that she was tangled in. WHen her head was free, she moved down so I could cut the rest of the net off her neck. I walked down her neck carefully and slashed the net in pieces with my claws.

I made the last cut and climbed back on Balthazar. The Scaldron fell back into the water and made noises of happiness. I chuckled lightly and began flying away with Balthazar. We flew at a leisurely pace in the dark clouds that seemed to be traveling with us.

I sighed in content as we flew toward our current hide out. Balthazar and I made a good pair, I never had to tame him. The story was simple. We were both young and scared and found comfort in each other.

"Balthazar," I began. "I know our past isn't the best and it was hell, but I wouldn't change a thing for the world." I said smiling down at him. He turned his head to me and let his tongue hang out. I chuckled lightly as he turned back to flying.

He took a dip toward our hide out, it's this strange island full of lakes in which we found connected to the ocean. Water dragons lay their eggs in these and when the legs hatch the baby dragons find their mother which doesn't go far from the nest. Balthazar and I even made a few friends with the mothers.

Balthazar landed and let me off. I smoothed the spike on his nose and then stretched my arms above my hands. I heard a growl behind us and turned. It was just the Thunder drum mother we made friends with our first night here.

She was about to attack us the first night, but I offered her the fish I was eating and that seemed to calm her, but she didn't fully trust us till a few days ago. Now, we have her back and she has ours.

"Oh hello, " I smiled at her. I walked over and stroked the side of her face. She opened her mouth and dropped a ton of fish. I laughed and began grabbing sticks for the fire. I plopped a few logs in our makeshift fire pit and then added a few more sticks.

"Hey Balthazar, could you light the fire?" I asked as I skinned my fish. He shot out a small shot of lightning and then began eating his fish in peace with the Thunderdrum. I finished degutting the fish and tossed the scrapes to Balthazar who caught them mid air. I pierce the meat with my pointed stick and began cooking my fish over the fire.

"Thank you." I raised my stick to the Thunderdrum. She grabbled a welcome as she ate what was left of the fish. I heard thunder crack overhead and saw Balthazar's head snap up. He then looked at me and danced on his feet as if to ask for permission, but what he really wanted was to go chase lightning and recharge with me, but that always gave me static hair. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I just wanted to eat my fish.

"Go on, I'll stay here." I began eating my fish as he sliced threw the air after a lightning bolt. I smiled up at him as he absorbed lightning left and right. It was definitely a sight to see. Balthazar and I both love storms, in a way they were like an escape, a stress reliever. To listen to thunder, to see the lightning light up the sky. It was so breath taking.

I heard a small growl behind us. I turned around to see the baby Thunderdrum emerging from the pond. I watched how it could hardly walk and smiled as he tried galloping to his mother. I stood up and smiled at him.

"May I?" I questioned to the other with my hands out in surrender, so she knew I wouldn't harm him. I had my claws off to eat. She pushed her small baby to me and I eagerly hugged him. He was so small compared to the very large Thunderdrum sitting before me. I stroked his nose and behind his ears. I stood up and smiled at the mother.

"Thank you." I nodded to her. I turned and finished my fish while Balthazar continued to chase lightning. A heard a dragon yawn and looked behind me to see both Thunderdrum's going into the ocean.

"It was nice to meet you, I hope we see each other again." I smiled at the two and then sat down, now alone. Balthazar and I were going to head west after this. Take a break and visit some of our old dragons friends. In fact I actually needed a bath, just because I am a Viking doesn't mean I have to smell like one.

I took the last bite of my fish as Balthazar landed with a plop in front of me. I chuckled at him, seeing him be so carefree is amazing, unlike when we first met, but I don't like to think about those.

"Okay here's the deal. Tonight we will relax and tomorrow we will go to Ember island, you know with all the Monstrous Nightmare's? Anyways, we leave in the morning and I will gladly get my clean on in the hot water springs while you play with some of our old friends, okay?" I asked with a smile. He nodded and laid down beside me, placing his head in my lap.

"Can you believe we have come this far? We have allies of all different species, and we can provide for ourselves since I was twelve. Balthazar, we are so strong together." Balthazar is  my best friend and no one will ever change that.

I yawned and leaned against Balthazar's neck. He laid his head on the ground now, finally won from chasing lightning.

"Goodnight Balthazar." I earned a dragon grumble back which made me smile. I finally relaxed my head and slowly, very slowly fell asleep.

It was a half sleep, half awake concept. It happens most nights where I am aware of myself sleeping, it makes for a very rough morning the nest day.

Finally, I completely conked out in the middle of the night.

Hello, sorry for the short intro, but at least you get an idea about Balthazar and Hlín. They are both head strong and friendly to others unless given a different reason. I hope you like this. I really do. Please forgive me of grammatical errors, I will go back and fix them when this story is completed.
