Kai sighed and sat on one of the wooden stools inside the greenhouse, his backpack lying forgotten by the entrance.
The air was slightly humid with the amount of moisture from keeping the flowers and shrubs watered constantly, and a few lone gnats fluttered lazily in the corner of his vision.
However, here was where he felt secure. Here he could watch as a small ant made its way across a rose petal and whisper out "I think I like Do Kyungsoo," without any fear of someone hearing.
The words were so quiet that he wasn't even sure that he had actually said them, wasn't sure he believed them fully either. But they were there now and he couldn't take them back.
The whole lesson had now passed and Jongin hadn't shown up, Kyungsoo was glad but honestly, a small part of him was worried; he'd never seen Jongin act that way he did earlier and now he isn't showing up to class? Jongin may be popular but he always showed up for class.
Kyungsoo wasn't sure why he was worried, that guy had caused him so much pain the whole time he had known him but there was something about the look in his eyes when he let go of the older boy earlier that day that made him concerned, more concerned than he could even admit to himself.
A little while later, Jongin knew that it was time he should probably head to his second period, he couldn't mope around forever anyway.
As he walked back to school, he kept his eyes out for Kyungsoo, wanting to make sure he didn't run into him for the rat of the day to avoid any awkward situations. 'Why would it be awkward anyway? I own him around here, that's nothing out of the norm', he thought to myself quietly as he made his way to his next class.
Kyungsoo quickly walked out of class and towards his next lesson, trying to avoid the teachers gaze in case she asked why he had been late before he left.
Soo reached his second class to see the one and only, Kim Jongin sitting there. He had forgotten he shared this class with him as well. Soo continued to watch him while he slowly walked over to his seat, making eye contact for a second before looking away again, there was something about him now, he didn't seem so uptight and full of himself...he seemed nervous and almost confused. He quickly shook the thought out of his mind, he shouldn't be this bothered by how Jongin is.
When Jongin saw Kyungsoo enter the classroom, I couldn't help but make eye contact with him for a second before turning to face forward in his seat.
Despite his "bad boy" reputation, he was actually a pretty good student, always passing his classes and doing well in exams but to do so, he couldn't afford to be worried about he conflicting emotions towards the older boy, and so the rest of the class was spent with his eyes trained on the board while the teacher droned on, leaving him wishing for the bell to ring as soon as possible.
The whole lesson dragged on for what seemed like forever, normally Kyungsoo would enjoy this class but that day it felt like it would never end. Right at the very end of the lesson, just as Kyungsoo was about to go meet his friends, the teacher stopped and told everyone that they would be starting a new assignment and it would be done in pairs decided by her. She raid through the list of pairs and then she said the words thay Kyungsoo had been dreading, "Jongin, you'll be paired with Kyungsoo."
Jongin groaned as he heard who he would be paired up with, glancing over at his new partner once the teacher officially released them for lunch.
As soon as she said it, the only sound you could hear was Jongin's groans. There was no way that Kyungsoo was going to do this assignment with him. He would end up dead by the end of it.
Walking over to Kyungsoo, Jongin forced out the nagging thoughts playing throughout his mind about the other and resumed his role of the older's personal tyrant.
"I'm not going to be paired with you, so either get the teacher to change it or prepare to do the project by yourself." Jongin smirked and rushed past Kyungsoo, intent on finding his friend Sehun before they got to the cafeteria.Kyungsoo sighed as he heard Jongin's words but felt a wave of relief rush over him, "guess I'm doing this on my own then" he mumbled to himself but knew that anything was better than working on it with the guy who beats him everyday. Kyungsoo quickly packed up his things and went to the cafeteria to meet up with his two closest friends.
