"What's kickin party people?!" Derby yelled, heralding his and Slab's arrival. "You can't pick people's locks Derby," scolded Slab. Adam made a thank you motion with his hands. "at least not with that brand of picks. Slab finished as Adam face-palmed. And so the whole gang arrived. Derby tapped Slab's arm.
"Whoa, look who beat us to the punch! It's Echo! What's up home-slice?" he asked with surprise. "Shut up Derby. Adam's mom is in bed." she blushed. As the boys had entered Echo and Ivy had jerked their hands away from one another and Ivy had wiped away all signs of tears with the back of her hand.
Adam entered and Echo stood and walked up really close to him where he leaned against a wall. "Looks like we aren't going to finish that trash compactor scene after all. Sorry, Adam." she batted her long, dark eyelashes and bit her lip the way she had in the days leading up to that horrible first date in her dreams. After waking up she had realized that sometimes he could be attractive. Now, in the past few weeks it had become a daily(and nightly) thing. Adam ginned at her unusual boldness she was famous for with a blush . Despite the grin his heart was beating like the bass drum in a Sousa March.
His accursed stammer came back when he looked into her eyes. "D-Don't worry we c-can fin-finish it later." His eyes hardened as he turned away from her and the stammer disappeared. "Ain't that right fellas?" he commanded in his best country accent. Echo stuck her tongue out at the guys and subtly winked at Ivy.

Slab got bored and was about to toss Derby out of the attic window which somehow sparked a game of truth or dare, though Adam denounced the game as childish, stupid, and dangerous. Apparently he had been the brunt of too many jokes in college. This brought about many raised eyebrows and questioning glances. Echo resolved to ask him about it in more detail later on. Maybe much later on now that she thought about it.
After all of the usual 'eat this', 'run around the neighborhood naked', dares had been made the group was high on exhaustion, candy, and silliness. It was three in the morning and Echo was half asleep, but no one else was showing any sign of slowing down.
Now their little game was getting down to the nitty-gritty. Derby had just dared Ivy to go on a date wit Slab and Ivy had dared Adam to do the same with Echo. Adam had to think for a minute but he dared to choose Slab as terrifying he could be to Adam.
"Slab, truth or dare?" Adam had a killer response either way.
"Dare. I always pick dare." he said with superiority. Adam had backed down thrice already with the intention of keeping his and Echo's virginity intact. He had also called Ivy nearly every bad word he knew. "Okay Slab. I dare you to go a week without touching another living thing against its will or else report to after-school study-hall instead of detention as usual. I can take Principal Tater."
Slab scowled angrily then turned to Adam."Truth or Dare?"
"Dare" he answered. "I can take it too." Slab shot an evil glance at Adam and Echo's hands together under the blanket. Everyone looked confused at his expression, but they let it slide considering that it was Slab.
"Adam...I dare you to sleep in your own bed tonight. NO exceptions." He dared, grinning again. Clearly there were games afoot but Adam was confident. He could take a lot, not to mention this was just a dumb game anyway. Not to mention a dumb game that gave him a chance/excuse to go on a date with Echo.
Everyone waited expectantly for Slab's turn again. In the mean time Ivy and Echo were forced to divulge their bra sizes (Derby x.2) and Adam lost his pants (Ivy). Derby was in a dress (?) and Slab said he had never actually seriously hurt anyone (Echo). Slab turned to Echo. "I dare you the exact same as Adam. Sleep in his bed all night. No exceptions." she took a deep breath and let go of Adam's hand quickly. Echo whispered an un-necessary "I accept." Echo changed into a pair of Ivy's pajamas and waited in Adam's room patiently.
