Ivy pulled Adam aside for what she referred to as a serious emo convo. "You hurt her, you die. You make her do anything she doesn't want to, you die." she fingered a scar on her cheek. "We clear?" she asked or more like commanded.
Next Ivy found Echo in Adam's room sitting on his bed nervously. "I gave him the talk so no worries on that front. Remember, with this guy you hold the power. HE loves you like he loves all of his science junk, with his whole heart. You wouldn't believe the stuff he's already done for you and your sake."
She blinked once then smiled sheepishly. "If you were to compare it to what i feel for him then it's believable. Yet it's Adam so it's already unbelievable."
"My brain can't take your train of thought. I'm going to bed." Ivy shook her head and announced to the whole house, unheeding of her sleeping mother. " I'm coming with!" shouted Derby. "No you're not! " retorted Ivy slamming her door behind her. Who knew her brother had such cool friends (not Derby). That Slab was a complete genius, a date with him might not be so bad.
As Adam cleaned up downstairs Echo took the time to look around his room. One wall was dedicated to Albert Einstien and Sir Isaac Newton and a lot of other scientists she didn't recognize. One class picture hung above his desk/workbench. It showed Adam and his class on picture day earlier that year. The picture was taken early that day and Echo was already in her 'age-9-when-boys-notice-girls-for-the-first-time outfit' Adam was standing on a chair to make it more obvious that he was the teacher. Beside that picture was an exact copy of her student i.d. only in black and white on lined notebook paper. When she reached out to touch it her finger came away grey.
At that moment of wonder Adam came in the room and she gave a small squeak of surprise and brushed her hand off on her pants quickly.
"Sorry, did I startle you ?" he asked in a soft voice. "I brought the movie for us to finish." he offered with a small grin. somewhere along the line Star Wars had become an inside joke between them. Adam could tell form the forced grin that she was still a little nervous. Adam took her shoulder and they sat on the edge of the bed very formally at least a foot from each other.
"Don't you trust me, Echo?" she bowed her head and played with his fingers.
"I trust you, Adam." she said so softly he could barely hear her.
"Good though I think I might should still be wary of you too " he winked. "I want you to know that I would never push you to do anything you don't want to do. Just know that okay?" he blushed.
Echo stared at him with her mouth open. She had definitely not been thinking that far ahead. She took a deep breath then took the plunge.
"Adam, you are the kindest, strongest, yet most gentle person I know or have ever known. Will you do me the honor of being my boyfriend?" she sighed. Outside of their door money exchanged hands amongst four different people.
Adam stared at her for a few seconds, but not for many. Then he grabbed her shoulders gently a kissed her softly on the lips and he hugged her close to him. "Okay, then." she murmured.
