"Son, why won't you let me into my own house to see my own kid and my own wife?!" yelled Jack as Adam stepped calmly out the door. "You get to be happy with your little girlfriend but I'm not allowed to even see my wife. I don't care if you hate me but this is my family too." yelled Jack.

"You won't touch them. You won't even look at them. You won't even think about them. They aren't your family they're mine. I provide for them better than you ever did, and I will continue to do so until I die, without your consistent intrusions. We don't and never will need you. Now leave before I call the police." Adam commanded as calmly as possible, even though he wanted to cry on the inside.d

"SON, you are definitely going to regret ever back-talking your father." Jack responded angrily, with a deadly fire in his eyes. Adam easily saw it coming and had expected his little speech to be responded with violence. Adam grabbed his ex-father's wrist and kicked him hard in the no-no square. (nuts) Jack turned and laid in the grass holding himself with tears coming from his eyes. Whether because of what Adam had said or because he would never have anymore children Adam would never understand. Adam turned and went back into his house breathing deeply.

Echo was waiting just inside the door when he came. She put her hands on his pink cheeks and made him look her in the eyes. "You're okay?" Died he hurt you? I thought I heard you fighting! OH, Adam, I was so worried!" Adam could tell she had been crying. "Shhhhhh.Shhhhhhhh. Don't worry, Echo. I'm not going anywhere." he soothed hugging her close to his chest as she cried silently. His eyes hardened though he was still gentle. "I'm not letting him near any of you." he met each persons eyes. Derby and Slab nodded to him. Ivy and Rachel let silent tears fall down their cheeks.

"Mom I don't want you working anymore this week. Can you call in sick?" Rachel nodded.

Adam reached in the coat next to the door and pulled out two silver oblong objects. "Tazers. You may not keep them." he tossed one to Slab and Derby."

"Echo we might need to have that chat with your parents early. IF you guys could clear out. Stick together in pairs. No one goes out alone."

Slab and Derby left around lunchtime but Echo stuck around to help with the dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Zizzleswift. Echo sat at the bar-island in the kitchen chatting with Adam about whatever popped into her head as Adam cleaned up the mess from the night before and cooked. She wanted to help but he wouldn't let her. The food smelled wonderful.

"Come on, let's go pick up some flowers for the table." he said as he set the food on the table. "We only have a few minutes though we need to hurry. " he glanced back at the table with one last worried glance. Adam held the door  open for her with a small bow and said "Milady?" he offered her his embarrassed grin.

"Thank thee my kind gentleman, whilst thou escort thy lady to the market?" she asked with a flourish, deciding for once to play along with his game.

"Kindly, milady" he took her hand and pulled her along. Both teens were blushing profusely as they walked down the street holding hands but neither cared about the embarrassment much. Once they came to the shopping center they saw dozens upon dozens of different flowers blooming outside of the shop. As badly as he had been feeling of late Adam had to laugh at his girlfriend's reaction to the beauty of each and every flower. He also had to laugh at her reaction to his knowing the scientific name for each flower she pointed out. He also knew the meaning behind each type of flower as well.

"You know Adam, sometimes you're too smart for your own good." she told him ,sticking her tongue out.

"And sometimes you're too damn pretty for your own good." he whispered in her ear. He had leaned in so close that she could feel his hot breath on her ear. He kissed the top of her head, both cheeks and finally when she didn't think she could stand it any longer her lips softly and  slowly until they both had to come up for air. The scene to Echo was perfect just as, the scene for their first kiss was perfect to Adam. She sighed with joy. If it weren't for Jack everything would be perfect.

"Adam, don't let him hurt you okay?" she begged.

"I won't let him touch me if it makes you happier." he promised.

When they had first met Adam had been starstruck by her good looks. Now that he had gotten to know her, he understood how she could understand people in a way he never could. He got her unique sense of humor and she could flash a dazzling smile his way that made all of the hurt just disappear. Everything about her complimented him perfectly. Now he understood something he had often thought he might feel. And it wasn't just a feeling anymore.

"Echo, um, this might be a little bit strange. But ,ah, ..." he stopped and took a deep breath in an attempt to calm his racing heart. "I think I might...It think I might um, love you."

This time when Adam confessed his feelings to Echo he didn't add a 'that you knew that' or 'you guys... I meant you guys to it. He left it there and waited patiently for her to process his words and come up with a response. He left his heart out there for her to take or for her to leave.

Echo's eyes widened in shock. "I ...I think I do too. I mean, I ,I might , quite possibly be head over heels for you too." She murmured quietly, looking up at him from underneath her eyelashes.

Without her catching up to his train of thought Adam swooped in from behind her and picked her up bridal style. He swung her around in circles until they both got dizzy. He looked her straight in the eyes and said with utter and complete confidence, not caring who heard."Echo Zizleswift, I love you."

Echo mirrored his sheepish and confident grin and shot right back." And I love you, Adam Young. Ddn't we come here for something though?" He kissed her once more right on the mouth then set her back down on her feet. "Sadly enough you are right." The pair grabbed their flowers and returned to Adam's house and what Echo expected to be very cold food. On the trip home they looked like an entirely different couple. Sure they were still blushing but, Adam's hand was strong around Echo's and they laughed and talked the whole way home just enjoying one another's company for however long it lasted.
