Tony was still on his knees, feeling hopeless as he stared down, silently praying that Misty would come back, but the hope was gone. He jumped back over the rail, only to find Killian standing a few paces away. His eyes were glowing. His neck was glowing. His hands were glowing.
"A shame," Killian started. "I would've caught her."
Tony looked furious as he began walking toward the man. Killian mirrored the movement, then suddenly broke into a run, prompting Tony to do the same.
Killian leapt, ready to land a hit, only for Tony to duck under him and sprint toward the spot where his suit was arriving.
They began fighting.
Killian landed on top of Tony and raised his fist for a crushing blow, but Tony called out to JARVIS, "Eject." The command triggered the suit to slide open, allowing Tony to escape just in time and fall free.
As he plummeted, the Iron Man suit came flying in and caught him.
Only for Killian to leap onto him mid air, both of them tumbling to the ground once again.
The fight continued.
Killian then chopped off one of the suit's arms.
He hurled Tony to the ground. Tony tried to blast him, but Killian caught his hand mid strike.
"Well, here we are. On the roof," Killian sneered, his palm lighting up before he struck Tony, sending him flying over the railing. The hit shattered the suit in half.
"Mark 42, inbound," JARVIS announced.
Both men looked up to see a light streaking toward them through the night.
"I'll be damned. The prodigal son returns," Tony muttered from the ground.
He held out his arm as the suit approached, only for it to crash spectacularly into pieces.
Tony sighed. "Whatever."
"You really didn't deserve her, Tony," Killian said. "It's a pity. I was so close to having her perfect."
Killian then jumped to where Tony was, and Tony backed away quickly.
"Okay, okay, wait, wait, wait! Slow down! You're right, I don't deserve her. But here's where you're wrong: she was already perfect."
Tony then commanded his fallen suit to attack Killian, which lifted the man into the air.
"JARVIS, do me a favor and blow Mark 42," Tony said with a straight face.
"No!" Killian yelled.
Tony jumped away and slid down the rails just in time for the suit to explode, sending fire shooting out in every direction.
He landed on the ground. Fire was everywhere. The head of one of his Iron Man suits sat aflame, staring back at him.
Tony sighed, only to suddenly hear metal shifting and a grunt echo from the smoke. He turned and stared in disbelief as the burning man limped out of the fire.
Tony was pissed. This man looked like hell on earth... and he was still up?
Tony struggled to his feet. Killian, engulfed in flames, was limping slowly toward him.
"No more false faces," Killian rasped. "You said you wanted the Mandarin. You're looking right at him. It was always me, Tony. Right from the start." His body began to glow again. "I am the Mandarin!"
He was then blasted back.
Tony turned quickly to see who had saved him.
Misty was standing to the side, glowing, a pole in hand, breathing hard. She dropped the pole and locked eyes with Tony.
