I wake up to the sound of ocean waves with a faint smell of pine and... Luke's arm around me?
Turning around in my place, I see a smug grin on Luke's face while he sleeps. It surprises me that I didn't feel his arm snake around my waist when I was asleep.
"..You little punk.." I mumble with flushed cheeks.
I carefully leave the lad's embrace and tiptoe my way into the main room. Careful not to wake anyone up, I quietly walk towards the exit. I'm startled when Michael's head pops from beneath the couch.
"How was sleeping with lover boy, huh?" he asks humorously.
"Very much comfortable. However, lover boy did get a bit carried away." I comment, plopping myself next to him.
He laughs at my response and turns on the TV to use netflix. Minutes pass and I find myself watching a scary movie with Michael.
I wonder how these guys even get signal here. We're in the middle of nowhere.
After ten minutes of screaming in Michael's ear, he starts a conversation on the last thing I want to talk about... my life back at home.
"Busy," I sigh," between classes and dance academy, I don't have time to go out and party."
"Dance academy?" Michael questions, intently looking into my eyes instead of the movie.
"I practice ballet and sometimes teach it from time to time." I answer casually.
"Hmm. Ballerina, huh? With the tutu skirts and perfect hair?" He asks with a grin.
I nod at his comment with a yawn while footsteps near us.
Calum.
"Good morning guys. What goes on?" Calum smiles with a yawn.
"Nothing much, I just found Miss Wendy here, is a ballerina." Michael says, gazing at me.
Calum's eyebrows raise at Michael's words and a big thumbs up comes my way followed by a wink.
"Nice," Calum smiles," you should teach Luke some moves."
I roll my eyes at the mention of Luke and tell the boys about last night. They both look at me as if I'm a psycho when I mention Luke's lame move of wrapping his arm around me.
"Are you sure he did that?" Michael asks for reassurance.
"Yeah, he had that stupid grin plastered across his face while he slept." I answer annoyingly.
My luck, the devil himself walks out of his bedroom. Those blue eyes of his almost makes me lose my train of thought when he settles in the chair next to us.
"Hey there, stranger," Calum smirks," We were just talking about you."
Luke's stare shifts towards me and I can't help but glare at him. He shrugs it off and it makes me question if he was even aware he had his arm around me.
"Where's Ashton," Luke grunts,"We need to get going. I have an idea of where Peter might be."
Get going? I just arrived here, what the hell does he mean get going?
Michael stands up from his place and looks at Luke in confusion.
"Slow down there, bud. What do you mean you have an idea of where he is? That's a load of bullshit!" Michael growls back.
Luke looks at him with amusement.
"Well unlike you, I bother to use my brains to look for clues." Luke argues back, causing Michael to raise a fist in the air.
"Why you little.."
I get in between the two boys before things get out of hand.
"Quit it," I beg, gaining an eye roll from the both of them.
I sit Michael down next to Calum and focus back on Luke who's standing impatiently.
"Clues, you say?" I nod towards Luke.
"Indeed," he replies,"I think he left a message for you, Wendy."
My heart stops when he mentions a message from Peter. I grasp onto the metal chain that hangs around my neck.
It seems like a lifetime since Peter gave me his so called "kiss" in the shape of an acorn. I wonder if he still has the thimble that I..
"Wait, where is this message you speak of?" I ask demandingly.
"In Peter's room." Luke answers with determination.
"You've checked their dozens of times." Michael notes," What could you have found this time?"
Luke turns around in his place and explains himself.
"My friend, do you recall a safe lying soundly in Peter's bedroom?" Luke asks directly to Michael.
Michael nods with irritation.
"It was locked with a number combination, that I so happened to unlock." Luke continues, impressing us all.
The four of us walk into Peter's bedroom.
Everything seems untouched since the last time I was here. It was until now, that I notice a metal safe in the corner of his room next to his bed.
My eyes grow ten times bigger when I see the numbers Luke punched into the lock to open the safe.
1207
December the seventh..
The day I came to Neverland.
"Luke, how'd you come up with this number combination?" I coax.
Luke rolls his eyes as if I don't already know the answer to that question.
"Like I said Wendy.. We need you. I figured this out last night when I watched you.. Um I mean when I was thinking the way Peter would." Luke answers, getting a few stares from the boys.
"I tried imagining what numbers Peter would've used," Luke continues,"December the seventh! The day you came here with your brothers. Which is also the day of my mother's birthday."
Luke looks out into the distance and then back to the safe. He reaches out to grab an envelope with my name scribbled on it.
He hands it to me and its as if my entire world collapses. I sink to the wooden floor and tear open the envelope. I try to hold back the tears when I read the first sentence:
"..Wendy, I know you might hate me right now but I just want you to know that I'm still crazy in love with you.."
