The snow began to blanket the grounds of Hogwarts even more as it became a blizzard around them.
I had found solace in the familiar surroundings of the castle. The air was crisp, and the festive decorations added a touch of warmth to the otherwise cold winter. With Christmas break approaching. In my mind I had the idea of spending the holidays at Hogwarts, enjoying the peace and quiet that came with the absence of students.
The afternoon was chilly as I sat in the Great Hall being absorbed into my studies, I had fell behind but was trying my hardest to catch up but I was struggling.
But Mattheo had entered as I had looked up from my book as he stalked towards me. I couldn't be bothered with him. I had managed to avoid him as much as possible but guess my time had finally ran out.
“Lyla,” he said, his voice cutting through the silence. “You’re coming home with me for the break.”
I looked up, surprised. “What? Why would I do that?” I glared.
Mattheo’s expression hardened. “Because I said so. You don’t have a choice in the matter.”
I couldn't help but feel angry at his demand. “You can’t just decide that for me! I have plans, and I’m not interested in going anywhere with you.”
“Plans?” he scoffed. “What plans could possibly be more important than what I’m offering?”
As the argument escalated, I had to try and reason with him. “I’m not going to be a pawn in whatever game you’re playing. I’m staying here, and that’s final.” I spat.
Mattheo stepped closer, his voice low and threatening. “You don’t understand the stakes, Lyla. You have to come with me. There’s an important Death Eater mission, and I need you to be a part of it.” He hissed.
I crossed my arms defiantly. “You can’t just drag me into your mess when you feel like it." I glared.
Mattheo’s eyes darkened, and for a moment, I felt a chill run down my spine.
“If you don’t come back with me, I can’t guarantee the safety of your friends. You know how dangerous it is out there.” He smirked.
My heart raced. “You wouldn’t dare threaten them. They have nothing to do with this.” I spat.
“Think again,” he replied, his tone icy. “You’re not the only one with something to lose.”
I felt even more trapped. The thought of any of my friends being in danger because of my decision was unbearable. I had been doing all this to protect them and the idea that Mattheo could harm them was a reality I couldn’t ignore.
